I did so yesterday. I’ll be paid at the end of the month into Bunq first. I’m still in the process of migrating standing orders and direct debits, but otherwise I’m over.
I see two issues for myself at the moment:
1) The lack of Girocard payments (EC to Germans) it is a real pain.
2) When you save payee’s, I like to incorporate the notes - like credit card numbers, verbiage etc. With Bunq all of that has gone and needs to be manually added time and again. My payments vary so I can’t simply make a regular payment for X amount and forget it.
Other than that, I’m happy with it. I’ve also the free N26 account if all else fails, but these buggers don’t offer Girocard either.
I wish the German banking system would simply shut that down or convert all systems to Maestro. It does seem like Germany is backwards in many ways. 1980’s / 90’s. But, with that said, they can support Apple Pay - just need to find someone who actually accepts it first.
Germany remains a cash first society for now in my experience. Be also nice if Bunq would sign up to the same service as N26, so that cash can be paid in.
Lastly, the UK banks accept all SEPA payments, but charge up to £10 to make one. Any chance Bunq could (like TransferWise) create UK banking details. Even if they leave the EU, they’re still European. A fact a vote can’t change.
Ok, enough said...
