DeepL is a pretty new translator and it works a-mazingly well!
https://www.deepl.com/translator
One kinda gets the idea of what Google Translator prints out - but reading these always makes me a bit dizzy. 🥴🤓
I‘d really appreciate it if bunq would look into this. It’s also a European company... and it’s not Google/Alphabet... If that matters...
Cheers Steffen
Steffen That is a good idea 💡.... DeepL translations often make more sense then Google.
John Do It does. I guess it comes down to cost and ease of integration in the end.
Roeshimi The DeepL API charges 5€ a month and 0,01€ per 500 characters. Google charges 20$ per 1.000.000 So this is around the same price for both of them.
As prices are quite similar, how does DeepL score on privacy?
As Googles score on privacy is quite low and we discuss private matters here (I consider my banking affairs to be quite private), this DeepL could be a better choicezzz
Sam 🇳🇱🇬🇧 As Googles score on privacy is quite low
Oh, everything I write goes thru Google and cause of this is available on the whole internet? Uups, good to know. This is something I have not taken into account yet.
Heiko Hartwig Well... I don’t say it is published on the internet, but I do have questions about what Google does with the contents of the translations.
As the Alexa wasn’t too shy on privacy as well, it is fair to raise these questions.
Heiko Hartwig this platform is public anyway, so it doesn’t make sense anyway. If you don’t want something to end up at Google then don’t post it on a public platform. All topics are indexed and everyone can decide to copy/paste your a translation engine. It is your choice obviously to accept this and use the platform or use the platform to avoid this. 😁👍
Google würde sonst Einblicke in unsere Arbeit bekommen.
Jeroen 🏳️🌈 although not public you are initiating that action and Google has been mentioned in the Privacy Statement for this purpose. Niks aan het handje. In case you don’t like, don’t use it, or use your own translation engine. 👍
Sander Alles klar! 👍🥰
Jeroen 🏳️🌈 bunq has very very strict privacy rules internally. Basically everything Google (and many other services) is forbidden, Docs, Drive, etc. Customer data may not leave the platform. If we start this way you can question literally every organisation, so let’s not do that and stick to the disucssion of changing to the Deepl API. Thanks! 👍🌈
Oliver Also DeepL deckt eigentlich alle wichtigen europäischen Sprachen ab.
