Jeroen 🏳️‍🌈 Thanks for the clarification. I guess I decided on using connect in stead of "joint" because when I initially created the "household" bankaccount my wife didn't have a bunq account yet, and you can't add afterwards, so I chose connect in stead. I think.

And now I understand @LvH 's confusion about joint-subscription/connected-account/joint-account.

And now I see even less purpose for the joint subscription. I'd rather see Bunq fix the notification madness for us multi-subscription-holders :)

LvH I have read somewhere max. 10 for 1 bunq joint. On the official Bunq site it says (partner(s)) so more than 1.

Jos Yeah then I can see some situations in which this joint subscription can be beneficial. I thought it was limited to 2 people, in which case 2 pack subscriptions would be far superior. But if you share it with 3 people and all get one physical card each: this offers an advantage. (Unfortunately that would mean 3 maestro’s though and no room for a physical mastercard, if only we could finally get rid of Maestro and make everything MasterCard Debit! Sucks the acceptance rate for MasterCard is still crappy. :()

LvH I don't have either Apple Pay nor Google Pay, but does anyone know if it's possible to add the same card to separate wallets? After all, this card belongs to all of the Joint Subscription members so everybody should be able to add it to their own wallet, right?

Jeroen 🏳️‍🌈 I can't speak for Google Pay, but for Apple Pay: yes, to my knowledge it's certainly possible to have the same card in Apple Pay - no problem. I assume it's the same for Google Pay, but wouldn't want to give the wrong idea in case I'm wrong and they do do it differently.
The way Apple Pay works is that the card is just used in the final step, you technically get a virtual card in Apple Pay (it even has a different card number per device) and only Apple communicates with the bank on the real card number - which can be shared.

LvH Great, that means you could have 1 Maestro and 1 MasterCard that everybody can add to their wallet (at least for Apple and probably for Google too). That would solve a lot of the "who has the card because I want to do the groceries" situations.

LvH Just a follow-up question. If Apple Pay actually uses the card that means that you can't have your own private account connected to that card, can you? I mean, if you do (because you want to pay for your own holiday for example) and someone else is using it at (almost) the same time to pay for the groceries this means the groceries get paid from your holiday account instead of the joint groceries account. Or isn't this how it works?

I’d like to upgrade to joint but i can’t do it via my android phone nor do i get the option on my iPad. In NL right now, do I have to wait for an app-update perhaps?

Jeroen 🏳️‍🌈 Absolutely, although the places you go to of course do have to support contactless payments. If they don't, you still need a card: and that's where it get's tricky. However, as mentioned in another topic it looks like come may this year: all terminals in NL (in stores) must support contactless payments. So that solves a lot of problems (in the Netherlands anyway, dont know how contactless acceptance is in other bunq countries). And the physical cards I guess you can then just share whoever needs it when they go abroad... Although that'll be tricky if you don't live near each other. :P

Incidentally, I think this would work even better if you activate a Tap&Pay card. You can actually add that to Apple Pay and Google Pay as well in supported countries, and if the card got a supported region when it was generated. That card is 100% virtual Maestro and does not count towards your total amount of cards. That's an ideal card to have for this Joint Subscription, and if I understand the OP correctly: everybody can create 5 online MasterCard's and has all advantages such as Google and Apple Pay - so I imagine that includes being able to generate a virtual Tap&Pay Maestro as well. Then you don't even have to use the same cards with Tap&Pay/Apple/Google Pay, everybody can just put their own T&P in there.

LvH Yes, they are very unclear in their post about what works and what not. They do mention a few things, these are specified for (total) or (per person). So for all the things they did not list nobody knows how it works :sad:

It works just like a physical card in that regard, so whatever account the physical card is linked to in bunq at the moment of payment is where it draws money from. You’re right, that’s a problem. Virtual T&P Maestro solves that issue though as it’s truly your own card.

Si les enfants peuvent faire partie d'un compte joint alors un couple et 4 enfants payeraient 20 euro, avec une carte chacun.

I feel that you want at least two cards for each person. So you can have both a Maestro and a MasterCard.

If you create two Packs and find someone else to join in the two spots that are left you only pay 30 euro. That's 10 euro more but you get more cards, more accounts, more interest, more free ATM withdrawals and so on. So I'm not so sure it is a nice deal.

How does that work out? So a joint account (despite its higher price) actually has stricter limits on the amount of cards you can have? As a premium account + 1 maestro would also be €10/month but then you have 4 cards instead of 3....

Il est vrais qu'en hollande il faut une carte Maestro et une carte Mastercard, mais pour les autres pays comme la france cela reste un bon compromis

Net in de chat geweest in een joint pack mogen 10 personen maar je mag maar 3 fysieke kaarten. Dat echt te weinig.
Zeker als je met je partner en 2 kinderen zit.
Kom je al 1 kaart te kort.

Ben bang dat dit dan niet iets voor ons is, tenzij bunq besluit om meer fysieke passen toe te voegen.
1 a 2 fysieke passen per join persoon ( 10 to max 20 ( of max 15)j zal me sneller een reden geven een join pack te nemen al gezins pack

BigBoss 🇪🇺 Sure, it depends. In The Netherlands a Maestro is enough for just about anything. But in other countries you might need the MasterCard too.
