I can still imagine that a bank will check if you always receive money from a company. But why can't you just ask how or what? What is wrong when you say: I work there? Why do you have to send a payslip without stating a reason and with the threat of closing your bank account? That is a good example of working with extremes.
They could even state why it is and, for example, ask for an employer statement if they want to be sure that you are employed there. All those privacy-sensitive matters are not listed there and it is just as proof that you work there.
