As a budget-user I would like the ability to switch a card to a different account temporarily, for example, for 1 transaction only* and after that the system should reset the card back to its default configured account; so if I walk into a store that should not be deducted from my groceries budget account, I switch it, and the system takes care of the rest :) so I do not have to switch it back. (Which I might forget.)
- the design challenge is interesting because what if the first transaction failed because I fumbled the pin? Or for some reason I have two separate purchases in the same store. So maybe some intelligent stickyness and/or the extension to choose time; like iOS Wi-Fi: disable until tomorrow; translated: switch card to fun account until tomorrow (or for three hours) or other useful condition one can design.
—The Rest is more context and backstory—
I do want to address the why behind the why again: I would like the transaction of a purchase to go from the correct budget account so that I keep in control of my spending and keep an overview per budget. If the system could automatically redirect every purchase to the direct budget or let me choose in hindsight, that would also work, but that is obviously not how it works.
I am well aware that I might have created a complicated “setup” myself and I am requesting for more complexity but hey... 🙃🤓 the dual pin isn’t really convenient in every situation: it does not work for small numbers via NFC (no pin required) and remembering 5 pins is adding stress. Paying at a terminal is rarely a relaxed experience due to social factors (line, etc.) which pressures me into making mistakes.
If I can’t get into a comfortable flow, I might abandon direct budgeting and just pay from one big card-account and forward transactions afterwards which is also a two-step chunk-interaction: 1st sending the request and 2nd accepting the internal payment request; also a bit cumbersome.
Take care 😊
