At bunq, we consider the security of our users' accounts as our top priority. That's why, amongst other options, you can use a Passphrase as an additional authentication measure for your bunq account.
What is a Passphrase?
A Passphrase is a secret sentence (a long password) that you use to authenticate your identity and confirm actions on your bunq account (e.g. you might be required to authenticate when you send a particularly large payment or when you set up a Connect account).
The Passphrase is composed of at least 5 words, and you must type spaces between each word 👍. For example, a Passphrase can be something like: "bunq is my bank and I love it!" (Of course, we strongly advise to use something more personal than this, so that it will be harder for others to guess your Passphrase).
How do I set up or reset my Passphrase?
Once you set up your Passphrase, you can use it as an alternative to Hand Recognition.
To do this, simply follow the steps in the video below:
How do I select the Passphrase as my preferred authentication method?
If you always prefer to use the Passphrase instead of the Hand Recognition, you can change your Preferred Authentication settings from the Security menu in your Profile. Check out this topic to see how it's done!
