I was a N26 customer since beta.
I loved the app, I loved the support (yeah in beta the support was pritty good for a bank) and I loved the "energy" behind it. You could see that there a people trying to move banking to the next level.
Also after the switch to the own banking license, i still was in love with the app and the energy behind it.
But thats where the 1. trouble started:
The support.
No i wasnt really angry about the response times. After the switch to the own license I could understand that.
its about the "quality" behind the support.
It moved from "nice unique personalities" with empathy to a FAQ reader support.
It seams like N26 took every student without any knowledge, only with 2 hours of faq reading to the support.
That, broken promises (a daily savings account should be available since 2017), standstill in development, Chinese investors and the best answer to one of my feature requests:
"We have investors who wants to see money. We would love to implement multi accounts, .. but that are features without profit. With N26 Black and Metal we can make them happy."
brought me to my search of a new bank, it should be a "modern bank".
and I found bunq.
First I saw the price and it was a no go, but i still gave it a try and what i found was my new main bank.
bunq showed me that "new" in banking doesnt mean just a modern looking mobile banking. It really means "new".
Dual PIN, CVC2 Code System, handling with direct debits (N26 in beta: "we will never charge for rejected direct debits. we only want to take money where we really need. Now there is also a price for it like with any other bank), multi accounts, api + connect, Child accounts! (under 18? no Revolut, no N26) and
the BEST support i ever ever saw.
N26 is for me a modern looking old bank (yeah with fancy looking cards).
bunq is for me a real modern new bank. different. Its not just a modern app, it also has modern features.
No investments and privacy is not really a point for me. I dont think N26 is selling my data. and a bunq can also invest in good projects.
Oh and also the bug handling is for me much better. N26 has many small bugs which are there since at least a year. At bunq you get real bug fixes :D
