L I don‘t agree with that.
First: I‘m absolutely okay with the fact, that bunq needs to connect with Mastercard for more informations. bunq provides the cards and is responsible for any fraud that isn‘t caused by the holder of the card. bunq needs to get as quick as possible more informations about the leak to protect itself and the users.
But: we still don‘t know which data is leaked. Some reports are saying it‘s „just“ personal data without credit card-informations, some others are reporting, that there were some fraud-actions already on connected cards. Only Mastercard can (hopefully) tell us the truth - but right now they‘re playing dead man. Even after multiple media-reports Mastercard didn‘t informed their costumers.
Because of that it‘s the responsibility of bunq to avoid any possible fraud. It’s still possible that credit card-data are affected. In my opinion this means to support every bunqer, that get in touch with the support and provide them with new credit cards. Other Mastercard-merchants, like N26, are already doing this to protect their users.
I‘m hoping bunq will handle it this way, too, and don’t say „We’re the bank of the free - if you wan’t to avoid any fraud because of that just give us 9 € and we’ll give you the needed safety“. That’s unresponsible.
