Yes, you'll need to bring cash before going there (Chinese RMB is the most accepted currency). Note that it's best to bring small bills as in most places they haven't much change.

The local currency is the North Korean WON but is not easily available for foreigners. If you go there, the most accepted currency you'll be able to pay with is the Chinese RMB.
