Using your card

Using cards in shops is not very common in Syria. Make sure you always carry some on you.

The currency here is Syrian Pound (SYP), locally known as Lira.

The bunq community hasn't reported any free ATM's here yet. If you find one, help other bunqers by sharing it here!
π΅ If I want cash, how much should I take out of an ATM?
40.000 SYP should be enough for a few days, since you can't use your card everywhere.
Staying connected
π± Can I roam, or should I get a local SIM?
Most EU mobile plans will charge you for roaming. It's best to get a local SIM if you're staying for a longer time.

π What type of plug do they use?
This one! Itβs the standard European plug, but without the grounding. You do not need a converter.
π What side of the road do they drive on?
They drive on the right side of the road here.
πΊ How do I navigate my way around?
Google and Apple Maps both work well here. Taking a cab is very common and cheap in Syria.
