Using your card
💳 Do I need cash in Samoa, or can I use my card everywhere?
Your Travel Card 💳 will be widely accepted , but also bring along some cash.
💰 What currency do they use here?
The official currency of Samoa is the Tala. The common symbol is WS$, but also sometimes SAT, ST or T.
To give you an indications: 1 Somoa tala is around the €0,33 (September 2019).

📱 Can I roam, or should I get a local SIM?
Phone signal and internet are limited on Samoa. Lot of hotels have wifi, but be aware that it isn’t always complimentary. It is recommended that you buy a local sim when you arrive at the airport. You can use Digicell or BlueSky.

A beer is around the 11 Tala (around the €3,70)
🍽 How much does an average meal cost?
A basic meal in a fastfood restaurant will cost between around the 28 Tala (around the €10). It you want to eat a bit more fancy, you will pay around the 70 Tala (around the €24).

The quickest and easy to get around in Samoa is by car. There are many car rental servies.

Samoa’s has brightly coloured buses. They are an cheap and fun way to explore the local environment. Keep in mind that besides some terminals there are no fixed bus stops. So you need to need to wave down a bus as it approaches.
🚖 taxi
There a plenty of taxies. They provide a good service for a reasonable price.

-Be wary of strangers who approach you and offer to be your guide or sell you something.
-Tide changes can produce powerful currents in ocean lagoons.
-Use hotel safes for passports and valuables. Don’t leave important stuff unattended.
