New VAT number in The Netherlands
A new year has started and with that some new regulations are also introduced. For Dutch business users with a proprietorship (Eenmanszaak) it means that they will have to use a new VAT number. Here you will read more about it.
What has changed exactly?
Since Proprietorship owners in The Netherlands had a VAT number that included their social security number, the government has changed the format for VAT numbers so that I does not contain any personal numbers anymore. Business users with a proprietorship have already been notified about this change a few months ago, and have already received their new VAT number as well.
What does this mean for me as a business user?
The old VAT number was used when signing up for a business account at bunq. Luckily, bunq only uses the VAT number when setting up the account, and does not store it. That means that you don’t have to change your VAT number within your account.
What do I have to do now?
Simply said, you don’t have to take any action within your business account.
