Fraudsters come across identity theft, smartphone theft (and insecure PIN), straw men, ... quite reliably at bank accounts, at every bank. Apart from that, at bunq.me Links the fraudster can only be the "paying" bunq who bunq a payment to the bunq customer.
The fact remains that abuse has occurred, there have been too many, and the financial risk for bunq simply become too great. No matter how secure Apple Pay authentication is on the customer side, for bunq as a bank, Apple Pay is currently too insecure and risky payment method.
I think it's good and right from bunq to pull the emergency brake now before it gets worse.
There are more than enough top-up options, just like regular credit card payments, which is why nobody should be dependent on Apple Pay.
