Casual bunq's reply on Twitter:
Hi! Based on our user feedback we created +1 to create a better and easier way of sharing bunq with your loved ones, allowing you to share a bank account in just one tap! π
The question there was "is this the replacement for the Joint membership?" ...
Coming from someone who was openly praising bunq for months now: it's getting really, reeeally hard to ignore the whole "we're awesome and doing what's best for you!" thing. Previously I had 25 accounts to be shared with my wife for 9.99. Now we would have shared 1 account for 10.98. Far from better or easier. It costs more, and offers less. And I'm not even touching the argument made about subscription models being too complicated before.
The main reason I dropped N26 as my main account and switched to bunq was because of N26's lack of transparency and consecutive PR screw ups last year. Questions were never answered properly there. It's a bit sad to see bunq going the same path, even thou they still have some merits in other areas (open API, for instance).
I'm not sure there are many wifes / husbands / partners / etc out there that need a single shared account only. Most would end up having their own personal account elsewhere, which makes this whole +1 completely nonsense for those that were Joint members. Maybe it's a good use case for business accounts... but for families it's simply too little for too much. My wife has decided she will move back to N26. And by the way, N26 still charges us the original price 4.90 (Black) instead of 9.90 (You). Meanwhile, I just found out that Revolut has dramatically improved their API (available on free accounts also)... The competition is catching up, bunq. Please take note.
The topic is about questions, so here's finally my question: is that it? Is this the "new Joint"? Any chances you give the +1 at least its own personal account (so 1 shared + 1 own personal)?
