It now happened to me twice: a direct debit expired because the amount changed above the merchant limit and I did not notice that I had to permit the transaction.
I think this happened, because there’s only a single notification which looks the same as a normal transaction notification for a successful transaction.
As bounced direct debit transfers most of the time lead to stress and fees of multiple euros I would really appreciate, if bunq would try harder to make me aware of the needed action. Either by multiple notification (maybe there’s a way to increase visual intensity) or even better by sending me a mail, e.g. 1-2 days before expiry.
