Lezz bunq wouldn't be supported in all the other countries where bunq already supports Apple Pay... For banks the transaction infrastructure doesn't differ much from a normal contactless card payment.

I don't think this is the argument that I was making. I also explained especially why I think in other countries bunq is supported, but not yet in the Netherlands.

While of course nobody here knows about the terms of the exclusivity deal, and I think it's a safe bet that the parties wouldn't agree to anything that isn't result in additional profit for them, I don't necessarily think Apple gets a particular high percentage of the transaction fees in this case.

The July is almost over and there is still no ApplePay support for bunq Travel Cards even there is a clear statement on bunq website that those cards will get ApplePay supoort. So sad.

Lets hope bunq will do a miracle in next 12 days.

Subwoofer the clear statement mentions "late July", which can be as late as the very last day of July. We just have to be patient. And maybe it takes a bit longer, it will come eventually, let them iron out the last issues instead of rushing out a bugged product. 😉🙌

And when Apple Pay support cones to the Travel Card at the end of this month (which has one third to go still and is not ‘almost over yet), the Dutch will go bananas over the fact that bunq didn’t include Apple Pay support for The Netherlands...

Rest assured: as soon as bunq is ABLE to launch Apple Pay Support in The Netherlands, it will do so. They simply aren’t able to launch Apple Pay support yet, due to restrictions imposed by Apple.

Apple Pay on the Travel Card is promised to those countries where bunq has Apple Pay support for other cards at the end of this month.

My personal expectation is that bunq will support Apple Pay in The Netherlands this fall (September-December).

I was one of the lucky ones having Apple Pay.
Are used it daily and it worked great. Really it worked! I’m still in the gross grocery store told me today I didn’t have any cash on my bank account. After double checking my complete Apple Pay virtual card was removed by either Apple or bunq. Restoring it was not possible. So something is happening with bunq and Apple Pay right now, at least that is what I think.

Dick better to contact Support chat 💬 about that. I still have my “Update 7” Apple Pay card and it works perfectly still. 👌

Seems like they maybe making some progress in the Netherlands? Before I had to use the region switch to activate Apple Pay but tonight my iPad greeted me with a Dutch prompt asking me if I would like to add my card...

Double checked on my Apple Watch. Same deal 😋. The Apple earnings call is tonight and sometimes they slip some Apple Pay related news in... fingers crossed 🤞🏽

Lezz ING launched Apple Pay in The Netherlands, so it makes sense you can now activate with region settings to the Netherlands as it is now an active Apple Pay country (just not yet for bunq). 🙂

Ralf Hmmm maybe they relaxed the restriction to activating ‘other’ region cards like my Italian card on an iPhone set to Dutch. Before I had to match my phone region to the card region to get it to activate.

Lezz Maybe for activating via the bunk app, but for adding cards manually in Wallet, I don't believe it has ever mattered which region you selected, as long as it was an Apple Pay country. That is why it now works that much easier in the Netherlands, seeing as it is an Apple Pay country since ING's launch on 11 June this year.

Just as an info: With my bunq Maestro through German Apple Pay I was able to pay in-app yesterday. Showed up like a web transaction in the transaction overview, and it worked out fine. Maybe that's because I tried a new store (Lieferando / Thuisbezorgd app - they just added Apple Pay support), but in the past I was never able to use the Maestro for online or in-app purchases, only the Mastercard.

Jakob Using maestro online has been made possible in the past one to one and a half month or so and is awesome :) Thuisbezorgd, CoolBlue, multiple websites that integrate Apple Pay, etc. For me it’s so much better than iDeal, really happy with it and can’t wait for more sites and apps to support it. Amazon being high on the wishlist heh.

Hoe zit het met de ondersteuning van Apple Pay voor de Travelcard van bunq? Er werd gecommuniceerd dat dit tegen het einde van juli zou komen. Ondertussen is het augustus en er is niks meer gezegd hierover? Ik begrijp goed dat iedereen erg z’n best doet hierop maar wat is de nieuwe stand van zaken? Volgens mij zijn we allemaal heel benieuwd!
