Since we have dark mode released with update 8, it would be nice if we can have a “true black” option in one of the next updates. This also saves battery life for phones that support HDR or “True blacks”.
That would be great ...( q: how to add a printscreen/picture to my post?)
Blog No idea on how to add print screens/pictures. Maybe they removed this?
Blog Upload at a third party site like IMGUR (have a great app to do this easily)
Jeffrey Thanks... maybe it is only possible via webbrowser🙈
How can I mark this as an idea instead of just a post?
Hello @Jeffrey 👋, I just went a head and marked this post as a idea 💡. I think this would be really really awesome and it would look so super amazing on a iPhone X with a OLED screen 😍. I hope that bunq will add toggle for this.
Timo N. 🇩🇪🇬🇧 I agree. On the oled screens this should look awesome. Lets call it “premium black” because it’s already a premium feature 😂
Timo N. 🇩🇪🇬🇧 A bit off topic, but I’ve often wondered why developers don’t use the ‘true black’ very often. (This is actually the pixels being turned off on an OLED screen as opposed to them lighting up black.) Even apple iBooks doesn’t turn the pixels off in dark mode. But it looks fantastic and it saves your battery! Just wondering 😁
Timo N. 🇩🇪🇬🇧 Thanks Timo! I can’t agree more with you. This would look stunning.
Hubert Well thats a good question. I have no idea 💡 why most developers aren't using true black. And yes having the pixels being off would be super nice for battery. Lets just hope bunq will implement it :) I would defiantly use it every single day.
Hubert You may find this a fun read 📚 https://www.wired.com/2016/10/how-the-web-became-unreadable/
W. Janson-Korhorn Very interesting indeed! TL:DR: white letters on true black are considered to be too intense by leading designers, potentially causing eye strain. O well, I’ll continue to dream.
This would be amazing for people with amoled screens and OLED! Which is becoming increasingly the norm
Agree! Love how it looks now, but true black would also be great!
+1 for true black
Isn't it so that the energy usage of pixels increases linearly with their brightness on (am)oled (this is an assumption)? Meaning that you probably are not going to notice the small difference regarding energy use between true black and the just a tiny amount of photons from all subpixels resulting in gray compared to black edges around your screen. Can anyone confirm?
Freek All i know is that true black on amoled is awesome. Dont really care about the powersaving. So there are other reasons to want true black😉
Freek Energy usage increases even more than linearly, compared to the brightness perceived by the eye. When the screen looks like it's dimmed at 50%, the energy usage is 25%. (these numbers are an approximation/illustration)
Tweetbot has true black mode now and it amazing. I want this, bunq! https://www.theverge.com/2018/10/18/17995680/tweetbot-version-5-ios-oled-dark-mode-gif-giphy
