Few thought from me on the update if anyone is interested:
Love the new format, looked more professional than even the events at DeLaMar. I guess it's the better lighting or color shading or something. Also pre-producing of course helped. Now we just need the a huge bunq campus with drone shots and it's starting to feel like an Apple keynote.
The Bestie thing is cool and I will definitely make use of it. That said, this alone doesn't yet seem enough for me to justify paying for the Easy Green plan. That could of course just be me, and sure the most expensive plan doesn't need to appeal to everyone. Actually it's probably better this way where you get all of the useful features with the cheaper Easy Money plan and don't feel like a second-class citizen, but I'm also excited for any improvements to Easy Green in the future.
The Easy Green widget is also something I directly added to my website. As soon as they fix it so that it actually works, it'll look great on it! Wouldn't be a bunq Update if every feature just worked right out of the gate, right? ;) Overall, very happy this time and great to see how much was achieved in so short time.
And a few thoughts and everyone's thought:
I totally understand these sentiments, too. But the data sharing is opt-in and is easily disabled if you ever change your mind. What should be improved is how the friends list is displayed and especially how the "Inner Circle" is determined. Right now, if you add an IBAN to your favorites, it's automatically shown as being in the Inner Circle even though it might not even be a bunq user and Favorites shouldn't be a way to pick your favorites friends, but a way to pick from different accounts that you want to easily make payments to. Your landlord, your insurance company, credit card company and stuff like that. So Favorites should be completely separate from the Inner Circle imo. The data sharing option should probably also be better explained in the app settings of the Friends tab and give more granular options. Right now you kinda need to delve into the Privacy Policy (updated today!) to find out what data gets shared with whom. Having this very clearly in the app would ease people's mind a lot when it comes to the topic of data privacy and security.
Haha, I was quite outspoken against that. In my opinion this kind of data sharing should be more scrutinized by everyone, but I guess when it's the idea of big banks, then it's ok. Well, I'm sure a lot of people will also love it. Gotta make compromises in life sometimes ;)
B I would prefer having a bank that offers me financial services not becoming a social media circle where I'm disclosing information to my friends or about places I pay.
One of bunq's main principles/ideas right from the beginning on was making everything about banking as easy as sending a text to a friend. To expect them to totally forego this concept and not think about new ways on how to improve social spending is... interesting. And you might wanna read up on what the Activities feature actually does. It's basically a simplified version of the Slice groups where you don't have to manually add payments anymore but also can easily switch them on or off. I'll probably not use it myself as I rarely if ever split payments like this, but the English phrase "going dutch" exists for a reason, I guess.
