My phone broke and I discovered that Tap&Pay no longer works. This is not a problem for me, but I am experiencing another problem.
What is my problem?
I don't have a Maestro debit card and only use my phone for payments at stores. Since Tap &Pay no longer works, I am forced to get a Maestro debit card. I am able to pay at certain locations with MasterCard but this is not supported everywhere. It also was unclear that Tap&Pay was discontinued.
What is my suggestion towards Bunq?
Firstly, make it more clear that Tap&Pay is discontinued by not allowing people to activate it. I was able to activate it and it showed an error during this process which is quite confusing.
Also, add a Virtual Maestro card so people like me aren't forced to get a Maestro debit card in order to pay at certain stores that don't support MasterCard (which are a lot in the Netherlands).
Lastly, be more transparent when something like this is being phased out. This would have been better communication. Like a message when trying to activate it (not an error message like now).
