Incidentally, that blackish metal card in the OP looks really awesome. I’d pay a small setup fee just to get that :P Very nice! Hope such an option will come. (And otherwise at the very least get a better card design than the current ones :P)
DaveFlash I am also against a metal card, as it's even more bad for the environment, but I think you are a bit dreaming with your world without any cards. Cool, that it might work at your places, but it will take a long time for NFC being the standard all over the world.
DaveFlash Not in Germany... some shops only accept girocard (german bank card) or cash (barber, bakery for example). So how do you get cash from an atm without a physical card?
Jens Some ATM's support NFC. Not in germany, of course 😅
And to differentiate between the cards better in Apple Wallet. So bunq, please add more different designs to choose from.
I would be delighted to pay, let’s say, 5€ to have card with my graphic on it.
bump 👍
Looks like the original response was that the idea of a metal card was environmentally unfriendly. With Apple launching the idea of a card without an expiry date, maybe the longer lasting metal card becomes more attractive than disposable plastic ones 🤞
Steven Just because you don't print the date on a card, doesn't mean it's not there. It's right in the magnet stripe and the card still expires at some day.
Johannes 🇦🇺 I suppose you could just set an expiration date far further in the future 🤷♂️
Steven No, it's hardcoded in the magnet stripe.
Johannes 🇦🇺 That’s what I’m saying, hardcode it to a date far in the future, not the usual ~3 years. Make it 15 or 20 years 😊
Steven .. but why is the Apple Card now helping with this? Then you can also print a expire date that is 20 years in the future. I just don't get why the Apple Card is now showing something that helps with this topic :)
Johannes 🇦🇺 I think he means that if a card can last for 20 years: it needs to be of a proper material. The plastic cards don’t always last even 4 years and them breaking is ‘t only seldomly occuring. Therefore, a metal card would be better, stronger and made to last 20 years, and still can recycle it afterwards - and therefore it is more durable than the plastic cards in that scenario.
When I read: supercool option, brings a lot of style, make a perfect impression, feels good to have one, This reminds me of pre-puberty status symbols in relation to a credit card
Frank I don’t understand the need to insult those who have expressed an interest in this. If you don’t want one, fine, don’t vote for it 🤷♂️
Ich würde auch eine Metall Karte bevorzugen wenn sie dann stabiler als die Plastik Karte ist und langlebiger.
no not metal, I want a titanium bunq card with just a name on it. no numbers, no magstrip just chip+nfc and a name.
DaveFlash Super Vorschlag! Aber träum weiter.
Love the dark one - got my vote 👍💯
