As a bank we’re required to verify your identity before opening your fully-fledged bank account at bunq. Since we’d love to have you onboard, we partnered up with IDnow for a smooth and worry-free identity verification for our users in Spain 🙌

How does IDnow work?

IDnow agents will verify your identity via video chat, from 08:00 CET to 24:00 CET everyday. Here’s the quick process:

Start the verification process
Enter your personal information
Enter the verification code we’ve sent you through SMS
Select the reasoning of opening an account with us
A checklist for your verification will appear - check it out and keep everything listed in hand for fast verification
When checked, await for the app connection check
Wait for an IDnow agent to show up
Follow their instructions
Finish the verification 🎉

How to successfully finish IDnow verification?

Make sure to read the list of approved documents so that you know what is accepted for your verification.
Be patient. Don’t close the app or your phone while connecting to a live agent. This should take less than 3 minutes.
Allow the agent to hear and see you clearly. Connect to a stable WiFi or hotspot around you and stay in a well-lit environment.
Complete the verification on your own. No one is allowed to hold your phone or be present in the background.

How can I verify through bunq Web?

If you're not a bunqer yet and you want to open your first Personal account through bunq Web, here's what you have to do:

Open https://web.bunq.com/
Click on 🚀 "Don't have an account yet? Join the bank of The Free"
Fill in your personal details, set your security code and check our Terms & Conditions
You've just created an account, cool! Now it's time to verify.
Click on the 🟧 bunq Demo pop-up message on the top of your Home page
Follow the verification steps on the screen and provide all the needed info
Done!

Keep in mind that you'll be given with the option to switch to your mobile device before you start the video verification part of the flow. If you switch to your mobile device, the rest of the verification will be completed through the app 📱
