Still running into issues at the Rabobank. I now have -4.95 on my old account and because of the switch service, every payment I make gets transferred back to Bunq. This could even result in a negative credit statement because the Rabobank takes legal action after three months.
My husband fixed the problem by paying in cash, and cancelling his account at the Rabobank in the 5 minute time frame the money would be on his account before being transferred to Bunq (otherwise he couldn't cancel his account at all). However, I need my account at the Rabobank to stay open for multiple reasons (for one, very good insurance connected to the Rabobank, with the Rabobank discount higher than the 4,95/mo I pay to keep the account open), so there is no way for me to fix it like he did.
The only way out I see is cancelling the switching service. This will cost 129 euros, and in this case, I think this is an unfair amount given the fact there is no other way around it.
These would be solutions to work on (just examples):
- have certain payments excluded (manually) from the transfer service within the Bunq app
- have the option of one payment per month (in those 13 months) to be NOT transferred to Bunq, by marking/naming it in a certain way
In short, the experience is far from seamless. We actually spent 1,5 hours at our former bank to have everything sorted out, which they couldn't do because of the switch service overruling all solutions. And I am still waiting for a solution concerning my issue, although I am currently talking to a Bunq employee to see if we can fix the problem.
