So here is my 2cents on the matter, being a customer since 2016. This is all meant as feedback for Bunq, not only to complain:
For a while now, it feels like Bunq has had a strong focus on getting new customers, while forgetting that it has existing customers. Take the Jackpot feature for example. They're giving 10k away to a pool of people who invite their friends to join Bunq. How big is that pool exactly? I'm sure it's a lot smaller than the pool for people who have their savings in Bunq, where every euro counts as a raffle. So your odds of winning are a lot larger as a new customer. That being said, in the other pool your odds get bigger if you have more money. The rich get richer? It just doesn't seem like they thought it through very well, but wanted a triggering feature for new customers to join.
Bunq also tends to overpromise and under deliver. I recently attempted to open a new business account, the popup says my documents will be verified within 24 hours. Meanwhile its been a week without any sign of verification. Bunq won't even give me an estimation of the waiting times. At least traditional banks can say "Currently our processing time is 5 days (Knab)". Meanwhile they still advertise with "Open an account in 5 min!".
Others have mentioned that Bunq isn't as innovative as it used to be, and I would have to agree. A lot of the new features just haven't been all that useful. The friends tab and the community tab? I think enough has been said on these forums about them. The spending insights never seem to actually give me useful insights. Most of the time I just keep the circles at the top of the home tab closed. I can't remember the last time Bunq did an update where the features released weren't riddled with bugs for the first few weeks.
That combined with the appalling support times and the new social credit system for faster support just leaves existing customers disappointed.
All in all, I've gone from a Bunq embassador in 2016 who annoyed all my friends to switch to Bunq, to someone who regularly complains to my friends about how Bunq is acting more and more like traditional banks. I've tried switching to other banks, but they're still behind Bunq, so I've returned but only because Bunq is the "least bad option". And that saddens me because Bunq started out wanting to shake up the banking world. Now they're simply "the least bad option".
