As soon as bunq gets notice from the card network, they can return the deposit, but as long as that hasn‘t reached them, there‘s no way for them to know about what the hotel intends to do.
Support can expedite this process manually in some cases, or you can wait until it gets automatically processed. This isn‘t really different from other credit cards, but it might be more apparent here because you‘re paying directly with your account balance instead of chipping away at a credit line.
