ATMs get a new look and a new name. They are now called Geldmaat and will all look yellow. ABN AMRO, Rabobank and ING agreed on this. From 1 January the old devices will be replaced, the project must be completed by the end of 2020.
Together with Geldservice Nederland (GSN), which manages the ATMs since 2011, the banks want to distribute the machines "more evenly across the country". In order to achieve this, the banks are talking to interest groups such as the elderly unions and the entrepreneurs' organization MKB Nederland.
In many cases, the Money Size will soon be found on the spot where an ATM already exists. The current availability criteria are maintained, the banks promise.
"In a shopping area, you can now see five ATMs of the three different banks standing close to each other, for example, based on the number of transactions and visitors in the area, two vending machines may also be sufficient", according to a spokesman for GSN.
"We are going to change the network at many of these locations, and we are paying more and more digitally in shops, but there is also a need to withdraw or deposit cash."
When the locations are reclassified, according to the banks and GSN, the number of transactions and the number of visitors in an area are examined.
