This is a very good question. Why do you have to pay for a plan? I guess we could also ask, why do we have to pay for anything in life? I guess the answer is a little to complex to discuss here in full range, but in short it would be: because any business which provides a service, infrastructure and so on, wants to earn enough money to cover their own expenses, like employee payments and further, maybe to earn some profit with their business model.
