Well, that was a nice Update yesterday. It was all about a positive vibe, features that are very usable. One of the 'complaints' I heard yesterday in Amsterdam was that none of the features were 'shocking' or life changing. My initial response was: maybe they are not, but they are surely (don't call me Shirley!) very usable, but also remember that not all Apple Keynotes are shocking these days. There is only so much you can change in x amount of time to a smartphone and the same applies to bunqing...
Now back to the topic: Auto savings! What a cool feature that was missing! To the critics that say "other banks already have this" I would say "well yes, other banks also have direct debits, card payments and apple pay, so what ;-)
I already love the auto saving feature and I also love the fact that it does not only apply to card payments but also payments to other bank accounts! However I do miss a few things that could make this an even better feature, so I hope bunq will consider these for a next update:
1 - selective auto savings
2 - make the savings account connectable
3 - multiple autosaving
To start with the second: I created a savings 'jar' (potje) but this also rounds up payments I make from our connected account, this money does belong to me and my partner and hence I would like to see to give him access to the savings jar too so he can also start autosaving to the same jar and has insight in the amount I saved. Saving together is double the fun, isn't it?!
Regarding the first: it would be nice if I could say: payments done from my private account x should be rounded up to jar 1, payments done from my connected account y should be rounded up to jar 2. This way I can have my private savings account but also have a joint savings account with my partner. Also double the fun, save for a trip AND save for that shiny new iPhone...
Regarding the third: like I said above: when implementing selective auto savings it would be nice if we can implement multiple auto saving jars. I think no need to explain further...
What do you think? If you have any comments or additions, feel free to add them below and let's hope the bunqers will find some time in they busy backlog to implement some of our enhancements.
Let me conclude by saying how cool it was to meet some of the together/telegram bunqers in person last night! And thanks to #teambunq for having us, the hospitality was great. There was even a band that played some great tunes. And I had a chance to finally meet and greet @Ali !
