Dennis Is there a setting so that the first name is transferred completely when making a bank transfer?
Hello Dennis, yes there is a setting. You can change the transmitted name by choosing your "official/legal name" in the personal data settings of the app. In The Netherlands, it's normal to abbreviate the first name like this. In other countries, it might be different, so even though bunq is a Dutch bank, they allow you to customize the transmitted name to your liking. Pretty cool, huh?
As for Hanna : For SEPA bank transfers nowadays banks are actually not allowed anymore to ask for a BIC when accepting a bank transfer order, as the IBAN already has all information to identify the bank account perfectly. That's why it is called IBAN = International Bank Account Number. It identifies a single bank account internationally, and not just in the context of a single country, single bank or single bank branch.
The BIC is therefore only used when sending SWIFT transfers, because that system works also outside the SEPA region and has to support all kinds of payment systems from all countries of the world where IBANs are not yet used sometimes.
If you have forgotten to add the description for the payment, then tell the other party your own IBAN so that they can find the payment in their system. They might need to do some manual checks to find it, but your own account has an IBAN that nobody else uses, so it will be enough to identify your payment.
