François Even though "Sofort" is a German word for instant, this service from Klarna doesn't actually speed up anything. It just initiates a regular bank transfer at the other person's bank. In that sense, it can make the actual money transfer sometimes even slower because many banks nowadays can also send instant transfers which would arrive in a few seconds. But with "Sofort" most of the time it will just initiate a regular and slower SEPA transfer.
There is also an upside: The person does not have enter any IBAN information and cannot make spelling mistakes. And in the case of top-ups from your own account, bunq is so nice that they "lend" you the money for a few days while they are still waiting on the money from your other bank to arrive. That's why top-ups from your own account with Sofort are usually instant. But with money from 3rd parties, this would be too much of a risk, because you don't know if the other person didn't contact their bank to stop the transfer after they made the "Sofort" payment.
