I understand the card name/description is permanent. I also understand for this reason you cannot change it afterwards.
There is a very easy solution though:
- People that don’t like their current card description can order a new card to change it.
However, if you like an empty description on your card, the problem is the default ‘bunq card’ name because it’s the same for all types of cards.
I can see how building an entire ‘rename feature’ for people that have empty description cards is quite a waste of development effort though. And it’s creating complexity because you can then create mismatches between the name in the app and the description on your card.
There might be a minority of people that use empty description cards with multiple cards of the same type. They are already dealing with this problem with their physical cards so you can safely say they chose for this inconvenience themselves.
So there is a very simple solution for the default ‘bunq card’ distinguish problem:
- For cards that have an empty description, change the default ‘bunq card’ name to the card type name:
-- maestro cards with empty description will be displayed as ‘Maestro’
-- mastercards with empty description will be called ‘Mastercard’
-- Apple Pay cards (which always have an empty description) will be called ‘Pay’
This is a very simple solution that takes little development effort and is an elegant solution to solve the actual problem: not being able to distinguish between references to your cards in the app.
