They still use this exact same method... Just happened to me. I got really suspicious when they wanted me to share their screen and install AnyDesk.

I had this call just now aswell, it really took me some time to figure this was a scam call. They call from a private nr.
He knew my name and last nr's of my bank account. He asked if I had an Android or Iphone, and wanted to install a virus scanner from Bunq

When i refused they said they would limit my bunq account.

I told them that without any verification they wont get acces to anything, he said they could call from a 088 nr but i was not allowed to pick up, and that they were not allowed to communicate trough the app because it is a fraudulent case.

Luckily i have had an call from BunQ once before where they only asked me if i made a payment to Spain and when i said no, they said OK we will block it and that was it. (altough i know am doubting if that was a real call)
So i said the same to this man, and he kept pushing quite agressively, asking "what did i found so weird about the situation". I decided to hang up. They called back immediately, i hung up and that was it.

This really had my heart racing, it's really more sophisticated and it would really help if Bunq made clear how they communicate...

Ruud yes, unfortunately due to data leaks scammers these days have your personal details.

What I would do in your case (and what I did in my case), is add a new IBAN to your bunq account. Connect all your cards to the new IBAN. If you get a salary, ask your work to start transferring it to the new IBAN.

Then every time you see activity on the old account, like some subscription - change it to the new account. In time there will be no activity on the old account anymore, empty it and close it.

Next time they call and give you the details of the old account, you will know immediately that it's a scam.

It's a hassle, but it's worth it for your peace of mind.

ben ook wel eens benaderd door iets van Amazon jaren geleden, maar ik heb nog nooit wat via amazon besteld dus wist meteen dat het onzin was.
maar het is heel geraffineerd en er woord kennelijk heel veel geld mee verdiend

bunq belt nooit en kan je niet bellen... was het naar dat dit kon!
het feit dat ze al bellen is al 1 grote rode vlag.
om heel eerlijk te zijn, snap ik niet zo goed dat anno 2024 mensen hier nog in trappen. een bank belt je nooit,
althans in Nederland dan.. mocht deze dan toch bellen... hang op, en bel zelf de bank terug.

marcel Als iedereen maar zo voorzichtig en bewust zou zijn... In de praktijk komt het wel eens voor en trappen mensen er wel eens in, en regelmatig. De situatie is zo slecht dat ING waarschuwingen is gaan toevoegen op het inlogscherm...

Well, today something new happened. I received two calls from two different 06 numbers within a few minutes, saying I have to approve a withdrawal ("opname") of €2.000,-. Or if I don't approve, I have to press 9 to speak with a representative. I didn't hit the 'record' button on time, so I don't recall if they said they were from bunq or not. I ignored the first call, the second call I actually pressed the key to approve the transaction. I got no more calls since.

At this stage I'm done with it and just want it to stop.

No, of course no money was taken, it was a scam call. They probably wanted me to choose to talk to their representative and try to convince me to transfer money to them.

I know you won't be contacting me by phone, and no financial institution will call from some random 06-number.

Just happened here too…call from anonymous number, perfect Dutch, repeating my name all the time .. they told me last night there was an attempt to change my address details, which they found suspicious… after my show of distrust they convinced me to check the sos number on the site and verify that with another call they would make .. that matched… however still didn’t trust it, then they hung up …

Just got off the phone with another "bunq" representative. They used the same script as Lisette here above.

I'm seriously considering changing my phone number, this is becoming a weekly occurrence.

I suspect two potential companies who had the exact details, and could have been a subject of a data leak:

Green Choice - greenchoice.nl - the energy provider
PartnerPete - partnerpete.com - a service rental agencies use to connect tenants to an energy provider

Only these two companies had the exact combination of details that were used to try to convince me that this is legit. If anyone used one of these companies in the past (for me it was in 2017) and started getting calls as a result, I'd like to know if it was Green Choice directly, or Green Choice through PartnerPete. Just to satisfy my own curiosity.

Just got a call that there was a new device added to my account, a Iphone 7. Mentioning they probably are scammers she told me to call them back.... and that in perfect Dutch.

I also just got a call. Exactly the same story. iPhone 7 registered. Phone call in perfect dutch, trying to let me install anydesk. Very professional call, they new more about my online accounts, so they obviously have access to data leaks.
