Transfers within the UK (local currency to UK account) currently are forced to FPS, for which Bunq charges a fee. Yet, the UK is in SEPA, so it makes sense to support that and do a transfer to an IBAN like with any other instead of doing it differently.

As a side note, while SEPA isn't yet possible: After entering a UK IBAN as the destination, one gets asked for the sort code and account number. Those are part of the IBAN, so there should be no need for those to be entered again manually by the user.

So you are trying to send Pounds using SEPA?
As the name suggests, SEPA only works with Euro and if you are trying to send a different currency, you are forced to use SWIFT or the local scheme.

SEPA does not cover payments in currencies other than the euro. This means that domestic payments in SEPA countries not using the euro will continue to use local schemes, but cross-border payments will use SEPA and the euro with eurozone countries to a high degree.

So as was pointed out in my suggestion thread by Johannes . SEPA wouldn't work here as it only works for payments in EUR.
