Hello Bunq Team,
I've created a new design concept for the home screen of the Bunq app. Yesterday, I was part of a discussion on Reddit about how the current home screen feels empty and lacks widgets that could add more functionality and personalization.
While I haven’t added any new features, I focused on reorganizing the buttons and elements to create a cleaner, more elegant, and functional design. The concept draws heavy inspiration from Apple’s minimalist approach, while still keeping Bunq’s vibrant and unique character intact.
It’s not perfect, far from it. This was done quickly and on the fly, but I wanted to share it with you all to get your feedback.
I truly believe Bunq has enormous potential, but I feel it’s crucial to start listening to all of us. Users don’t just want a visually appealing app; we also want it to be practical, personalized, and supported by high-quality customer service.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this redesign. Do you think a change like this, with widgets and a more complete home screen, would improve the overall experience?
EDIT:
Here’s the Dark Mode version of the redesign I shared above. This is not just the Light Mode with inverted colors, it includes several improvements that make it a more polished and functional design. Among other things, I’ve refined the layout for better balance, improved the margins for a cleaner structure, enhanced contrast for better readability in low-light settings, and adjusted spacing and proportions to give it a more cohesive feel.
It’s interesting to compare how both designs bring out different aspects of Bunq’s vibrant style.
I do this just for fun, and there were some design issues in the Light Mode version that I’ve fixed here. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you prefer this version or the Light Mode?
