In-app form for missing company icons

Just added like 15 to the form. But yes it's not the ideal way, but it's really satisfying seeing logos in your recent payments.

We really need a solution for this. Browsing the events is so much more fun with logos. Why is there not progress at all?

Phil @Tom I've already offered my help via multiple ways, but all of them kinda died.. things would be investigated, but I never heard back...
I know how to create the icons, I know how to add them, I know where to add them, everything. Only detail is that I don't have access to the codebase anymore. So, in case you're still interested... You know where to find me.. 😉

Are there any news about this topic? My app isn't so colorful anymore because I moved and most of the stores in my area are not in the bunq spreadsheet @Sander created a long time ago. I added them to the new Form but it seems like that there is no real process!

Yes, please bunq. So many logos are missing.
As many others here, I would be willing to create logos.
Why not set up a public repo on GitHub where the community can provide icons? Then all you would have to do is verify pull requests.
There are also company logo APIs available, maybe you could integrate them if you don’t want to let the community help.

There are also a few payees like "KINDLE INSTL WWW.AMAZO" that can use existing logos (in this case Amazon) but don't, even after I pointed them out in private matters months ago. This lack of progress is frustrating.

Please realise that up until now this has been a manual process which takes a lot of time per merchant/icon. I would easily spend 10 minutes per icon, given the rate at which icons come in, it unfortunately does take time, and I can very well understand that features like Interest etc. are higher on the prio list as they actually add new features that might bring in new customers. 🙂 I do think that in the end this should become either an automated system or a community based system (hosted on GitHub or something).

Sam 🇳🇱🇬🇧 iDeal has regulations in terms of the usage of their logo. I tried adding some while working at bunq, but it wasn't allowed. As a secondary logo might work, (not sure about whether it is allowed) but would make the payment screens somewhat inconsistent and I'm not sure whether it would look nicely on the general events overview. 🙂

In the case of iDeal a secondary logo would be an option too, or show the iDeal-logo as a secondary logo...

Sander I hope that process will get improved, 10 minutes is a lot of time. In my example the Amazon logo is already there for other payee names and "only" needs to be matched to the new payee string "KINDLE INSTL WWW.AMAZO". This shouldn't take more than e.g. copying a line in a config file or database, then having the rest happen automatically (either immediately or after some automatic propagation).

I had the same wish for Steamgames. They have the UK one, but the German one doesn't have the icon. So I asked support months ago and still nothing has happened... 😢

Alina 10 minutes is for new icons (especially when there is no high quality logo available). In some case I had to manually build a SVG version based on a low-res JPEG I could find. Furtermore, the mapping, yes takes way less time. But for some there are very conflicting names. Where, for instance, local shops all of a sudden make use of a terminal naming convention that is used normally by a globally operating company. There are some pitfalls here, but yes, it would be really nice if the process improved. 🙂 There’s sometimes just a little more to it than “copying a single line”. 🙂 Last I heard about it was btw that they rather invest time now in some better system than spending time on all the separate icons one by one. 🙂 Who knows, update 11? 😛

I know my way around vector based images (former graphic designer) and do have some spare hours. Guess there are others too who wish to volunteer and have the proper knowledge.

Sam 🇳🇱🇬🇧 only bunq employees (specifically backend developers) can do this currently. And there aren’t that many, while they are also pushing out new features in short cycles. I would love a system where users can contribute, but unless they change the internals of this, still a developer is required to hook everything together. 🙂

+1 for this feature! You could even build a shared database of the icons uploaded by the users to let all benefit

On a larger scale this could be a shared database amongst all banks, but that seems a bit out of reach for such a small feature. On the other hand: if I had a company and could upload my logo to one database for all banks, that would help.
