I recently returned from Poland, I went with a friend and we used one of my bunq accounts coupled to one of my passes to pay for everything (something I always do, bunq is great for that). After the trip was over I split the money left in the account and called it good. Most things worked great and I used bunq everywhere. I had some issues though:
For the second time this week now I am getting 2 emails and an sms that one of my accounts has a negative balance. I don't have time to check it immediately so it worries me a bit that I have to re-enable my passes. Why do you just block my passes when this is not my fault and hard to prevent? I get that it is a zeroFX thing, that the cost can be changed afterwards but why the strong language about not being able to use premium features and having to re-enable passes (I have more than enough money in all other accounts)? What if have to pay for something and didn't notice the warning or I forgot my phone or have no internet? Also, I can't really see whether the passes are blocked, are they unblocked now? A small thing: The default (blue button) is to increase the amount from an external account, the option below is to top it up with my bunq account. That seems strange, why use such a "dark pattern" to push me to an external bank? I guess it's a design error.
Another issue I had was that I ordered a mastercard 2 days before the trip. It was great that it arrived in time! The app warned me that I could only use contactless after using in it in a terminal so I made point to put the card in the slot in the plane... It was refused. Probably the terminal was not online and I get why it failed but then the warning should say: Put it in an online terminal first, not, "use the chip first before contactless works".
Oh and a tip: Always pick zloty (not euros) on terminals, you may save up to 10%.
