Hey Johannes π¦πΊ
This is a good question and something we've definitely put some thought into. The main problem is that it's not always clear what country a website operates from. Therefore, we don't want to put the responsibility on our users to have to know that. We decided that it's more important to ensure online payments are successful than to implement road blocks.
In saying that, security is also very important, which is why we have the rotating CVC feature and 3D secure. Without the bunq app, you will never have the CVC or the ability to accept a 3D secure transaction. There are online stores that don't require the CVC but in that case the liability is with the merchant, so as a consumer you are covered. We are also working with Mastercard to implement further security measures to ensure online payments are widely accepted, but also secure.
Your point about the limits being confusing is well taken and something we will look into improving π As always, thanks for your feedback π
