Hey there!

With the original design suggestions topic becoming very long and very full, we've decided to close it down. But of course, we wouldn't want to miss out on great user ideas.

So! Here it is! the 2nd topic where you can share all design suggestions in the knowledge that our design team checks it 👍

Keep in mind: Please only place one suggestion per comment. That way other bunqers can vote for your awesome wish 😎

It would be great if the "Cards" menu on android looks the same as the current iOS version.

I total agree with that +100

I would like to suggest to move active/inactive cards in the cards screen by holding the card down and put it in your own order you like.

  • Kleiner lettertype in Rekeningen scherm
  • Totaalsaldo in iOS widget

Swiping gestures on accounts in the 'Accounts' screen as pay and request shortcuts.

photo

English version: fix the bug in iOS app that the wrong icon is displayed in de events tab when transferring money from one Bunq account to another Bunq account. Currently the icon of the account from which the money is transferred is displayed; it should be the other way around.

Kleiner lettertype voor de hoofdtitels van de pagina’s zoals “Rekeningen”. Ook ben ik geen fan van alles in hoofdletters te schrijven, eerste letter lijkt me genoeg. Ziet er zo schreeuwerig uit.

photo
13

Or at least make the titles consistent with the rest of the OS (e.g. Settings or Music)

photo

I dislike using words in caps all together ... :)

photo

Inderdaad valt me nu pas op.

photo

Helemaal mee eens.

On the Event page, place Ingepland and Geaccepteerd buttons below the Search bar, nicely outlined.

Thanks for all the feedback. Just a small note from my side: Luca is our *italian* designer. You would greatly help him/make his life easier by using english if at all possible :).

Muchas gracias!

Buongiorno Luca (and team),

First of all, thank you for all the cool design work you have cooked up. I have a suggestion.

/j9GHP6dMXuIhwAAAABJRU5ErkJgggA=

I thing you should combine Request en Split. In Android both buttons will take you to the exact same screen and functions. Also I see Split just as Request with the only difference that you request something from multiple persons. When merging these buttons to one, there could be more room for additional buttons. See my other post for instance: https://together.bunq.com/topic/swip-to-the-right-search-and-hide

The biggest challenge for bunq is to keep the app 'clean', while providing users with the right amount of freedom and customization. My suggestion would be to have an 'appearance' option in the settings menu where you can make some slight adjustments to the look of the app. This should keep the app 'clean', and keeps the design options concentrated. A few of the options I would like to see in that menu would be:

- Being able to hide the 'pay' and 'request' button from the 'accounts' tab, as you can click on any of your accounts and pay / request from there.

- Having a 'night mode' where the background is dark and the text is light. I use the app quite a lot in the evenings, and would really appreciate this.

photo
10

Making some of the interface elements optional would indeed be a great improvement in my opinion. I have multiple buttons or things I would like to hide in the app. For example the "Request" button, or the TopUp feature.

photo
photo

Rene has a valid point. I think you can achieve a lot by hiding features but still make them easy accessible. Example:

I love to new Total feature. But it looks somewhat out of place because of the position and the (too) small font. I would suggest in this case: Make the font bigger but hide this field by default. Make this field shown by simply pull down the account screen an little bit. This way the App stays clean, yet can reveal some awesome power with just a small gesture.

photo
6

The way you describe it is actually how it works in iOS ;)

photo
7

It is?? Well I guess bunq borrowed my idea then ;)

photo
8

By the way, I'm a bit disappointed that there are this many design differences between iOS and Android now.

photo
6

I was disappointed when I was on my Pixel, but since I got this iPhone I’m suddenly not so upset anymore :D

photo
7

You back stabber! :))

photo
photo

When I use the Pay option to transfer money to one of my own accounts I will get this screen:

/m5MhocAnVL4AAAAASUVORK5CYIIA

As you can see in the To field I selected an account of my own, but you can't see which monetary account. It would be nice (as a visual check) if also the icon and name of the IBAN I selected appeared near my profile picture. I can make a moke-up of course :)

photo
6

I use iOS and Android together but the apps are also on this site different. On android you see your member name and on iOS you see your selected account name.

photo
10

I've wanted this done for ages. This little detail is an open sore in what is otherwise a great app UI. I should never see my own name when performing operations on my accounts; I should see the account name.

photo
photo
11

The default event icons are pretty boring. Sure bunq could spice this up a bit! :) #withlotsofcolours :)

photo
5

Or in stead of a colorful icon, just the same icon but with a bunq account color. Different colors for different events without logo.

The color could be ‘calculated’ based upon the name of the event/terminal so it would always have the same color in the events. So different events have different colors, but events from the same origin are always colored the same.

photo
6

Like that! 👍

photo
photo

A optional dark theme would be nice

https://together.bunq.com/topic/dark-night-mode

photo
10

With time based (sunset?) activation

photo
6

That sounds like it'd be pretty cool 😎

photo
8

Yes! With the last update of their iOS app, Telegram implemented this. I wish every app had this feature.

photo
6

I would like to be able to enable it manually though :)

photo
photo
8

I just found out that you can copy the Total Amount to you clipboard 📋 by briefly holding down your vinger. But I noticed did doesn't work on individual accounts! So, would be nice if that would work to keep is all consistent. While typing this post I learned that this already is the case for iOS users, but not (yet) for Android.

photo
8

I will like to have a cards screen where I can select one or other card without needing to swipe through cards. It will make much faster looking through yours cards and checking the account associated with each of them. For example: having you first four cards visible in the first screen as you go into cards with the associated account under each card.

photo
11

If you click on "request", you see "from [account]" I think that should be "to [account]".

photo
7

I think “to” and “from” on this page (iOS) should switch.

Change request “to” > “from” - where you have to indicatie the recipient

Change “from” > “to” - where you select the account where the payment goes to

photo
3

YES! I got confused by this the first time

photo
photo
7

Switching between accounts is too much work 😉

Why no easy switch when you click your profile button? Slide between accounts or some other fancy way.

photo
5

If you touch and hold, you can quickly switch between accounts.

photo
photo
12

(iOS) It would be awesome if you would adjust the views respective headers to be consistent with system apps like “Music”. Especially getting rid of the weird small caps type. Keep up the good work 💪

photo
8

Quick suggestion for Tap & Pay: when launching the app with the app action or widget, it would be useful to add one small bit of UI: which account it is currently connected to (with current balance). Click would allow you to change.

photo
13

Id like the possibility of adding your own brand logo from merchants when they are not shown automatically.

photo
12

I’d like the possibility to add some text to transactions for tagging.

photo
6

Switch to another card for a certain amount of time.

photo
10

To me, it feels like the UI could be more cohesive. With the last update, the cards are now arrangeable with a button, hidden away on the last card option. The accounts are arrangeable by the tap-and-hold action. It would make sense to use the same method. It adds to the predictability of the app. Moving an item, tap-and-hold. Same goes for swiping. It only works in the 'Events' screen. If something only works in one place, it doesn't register well with a user. Also, swiping and then having to tap the option, doesn't add to the flow of the app. It's still two taps which I get, because its behavior is inconsistent. The functionality varies between 'split', 'forward', etc. It would be more predictable if it always was the same action (so something other than 'split', 'forward', etc).

Another inconsistency is the new amount picker. What does it try to accomplish? An easier way to pick an often used amount for top up? To pick an amount I have to concentrate more than when I am entering an amount manually in a payment. Wheels work best when they contain few options. The new custom amount button adds even more friction. I have to delete the amount that I didn't want to pick in the first place. What is the reasoning behind this? Pick something close to what you want and then alter that amount by deleting characters and entering the correct ones? I think the wheel should be for often used amounts, no more than five options. I'm not a fan of hiding the custom amount entry behind a button, but at least after tapping it, the amount should be empty so the user can immediately enter the amount. Also amount picking behavior should be consistent in the entire app (pay/request/top up). Only then will it set in the users' muscle memory.

Please, before adding more functionality, finish the current features and design changes.

photo
5

Icons for the accounts, besides just colors 🤗

photo
4

Or just an emoji! Replacing the safe icon in the center. Or is that what you meant with icons?

photo
photo
6

In this very "together" section, make it visible which ideas/suggestions have already been implemented.

photo
6

In the "events" section, show transfers between own accounts as a single event, instead of 2, a "payment sent" and a "payment received"

photo
5

In the "events" section, display the name of the account a transaction is related to. Now it shows the merchant/sender only. So maybe a clever visual design with sender, arrow, amount, receiving account. This solves the previous comment too.

photo
5

In the account view, make the account icon on the top smaller. At the moment it is really huge, and what I really want to see, my recent transactions are hidden under the fold and I have to swipe up to see them. Maybe a smaller icon next to a bigger "amount available". Move "top up" next to "pay" and "request", it is a very similar function and makes sense to be grouped there. This gives more space to the transactions as well. Maybe hide "search" and show it on swipe down. In general, this grouping of functions and hiding what is not used often in order to give space to what we really check all the time makes sense, imho.

photo
4

In the "cards" section, if a secondary account is enabled with the double pin, display the secondary account and it's available amount the same way the primary account is displayed.

photo
5

Add the same functionality as with card numbers (tap > copy, send by message in different apps) to IBAN numbers. I often have to share my IBAN number through message. I've never had to share a card number by message so far.

photo
2

Hi Daniel! 😄

I'm happy to inform you that in our latest update released today we've implemented your suggestion 🎉

Now you're able to copy IBANs and shared them as you were doing it before with your bunq card's number! 🙌

photo
photo
6

In "cards" view, make the cards smaller so that all the functions for each card are visible and tapable without having to scroll down. I often need to access functions and the icons of the cards don't need to be that huge. Of course this might make the font to small to read on the reverse side, but think about it; while the reversing card animation feels good and looks cool, neither the CVC or card number are actually displayed here, the card holder name we already know and the expiration date is displayed underneath, with the options as well!

photo
7

Suggestion 1: this suggestion is a 'small' design change, to create more room for new functionality.

Wish: I would love a tab in which the transactions are categorized. This categorization can be done in a pie shape, where the pie is broken down in different categories (either pre-defined by bunq, or filled in by the user (e.g. using hashtags)). There are multiple topics in Together regarding this and I hope bunq will follow up on them.

Design suggestion: To avoid an overload of options in the bottom menu, I would suggest to move the 'QR' button to the 'Accounts' tab, as this is related to making / receiving payments. This would create room for a new option, where the pie chart could be shown. I have a made a quick mock-up to indicate what I mean, obviously the designers could implement this in a much neater way ;)

ccb8f20b06d42d1c5553b8b40d70b4a1

An other option would be the merging of the 'Accounts' and 'Payments' tab.

photo
6

Really cool, René!

Thanks fo the awesome idea and even cooler mockup 🙌

photo

Suggestion 2: a revamp of the 'all cards' options (e.g. replacing and rearranging)

I was browsing around in the app and by chance I stumbled upon the 'all cards' menu in the 'Cards' tab.

The issue: I honestly never knew there was a menu in which I could see all my cards and order replacements... It's probably my own fault for missing it, but I have ordered a new card twice because I was unaware there was an 'all cards' menu in the app in which I can click on deactivated cards and order a replacement for free. Further, the newly implemented option to rearrange cards (nice job on implementing this :) !) is placed in this same menu, making it hard to find and for iOS users this is quite an 'unnatural' location.

Design suggestions:

- At the end of the cards menu (so when you reach the end of your cards) simply show a button to order a new card. Get rid of the options to rearrange and order a replacement.

- Make a small 'edit' button at the right top of the 'Cards' tab. Clicking that edit button allows you to drag and move cards around and it allows you to hide and unhide card (alternatively it should open a small menu that is like the current menu, just less awkwardly placed).

- Whenever a card is disabled, it should still be shown in the 'Cards'. The menu items under the card should allow users to order a free replacement. If users do not want a replacement, they can simply hide the card by pressing the 'edit' button mentioned in the first point.

photo
4

What 'all cards' option? Is this yet another iOS v Android gui thing?

photo
4

Uh, I'm not sure how it looks on Android anymore. In iOS on the screen where you can order an extra card it shows all the cards you own / have disabled. From there you can rearrange and order replacements.

photo
photo

Somehow, somewhere, show an overview of the recurring online payments. It could be in "scheduled" or "accepted" or in a different tab called "online payments" 😊

photo
4

I love the way "split" works in Bunq, it's so intuitive! But only up until the point that the person you've requested to split with receives the request.

Your split buddy clicks the link and there are 2 options: Bunq, Ideal, and a third, a bit hidden: "or use Sofort". A non-Bunq user has no idea what any of these are.

Why not add an short explanatory text for each?

Bunq - If you have an Bunq account

iDeal - If you have an account in the Netherlands

Sofort - If you have an account in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Spain.

Also, the Sofort page shows up in German as default. And I know this is a Sofort issue, but maybe there's a way to hard link to the English version?

And then the big elephant in the room: that is a pretty small group of people that you're able to split a bill with. Why not add a 4th option, to pay by card? Or by SEPA transfer? Or both? And the SEPA could just give the user the amount and the IBAN.

photo

Automatically top-up from a selected bunq account would be nice tho! Now there is only the option to top-up from other banks..

photo
4

Why not simply use “request” or “pay” for this? I think top-up is useful for other banks that don’t have instant payments, so you don’t have to wait for your balance to update. If the other account is a bunq account the it will always be instant, so you can just use “pay” from that account.

Maybe it would be easier if “request” from your own account could be accepted easier. Then it would be as smooth as a top-up.

Top-up uses iDeal for the instant payment. I wouldn’t like to go through the iDeal flow to get my money from a bunq account to another...

photo
3

Yeah that’s how i’m doing it now. But what i meant is if my amount at account A is lower than €5,- transfer automatically €50 from account B. That functions is only possible with another dutch bank account

bunq saving account. At the moment i’m using bunq to control my budget. I have several accounts and to use automatically transfers from 1 account my money is going to the right account. In my opinion it would help if bunq introduces a kind of saving account.

There are some differences between normal accounts and saving accounts. It’s for example impossible to do a card transaction or ideal transaction with a saving account. Also is it impossible to do direct debits from a saving account. And yes i can make sure that this won’t happen if i use an account as a saving.

And don’t get me wrong but for me it’s not about any interest. It just helps to get and keep more control about my budget and it makes it more complicated to use my savings.

I thinks this can be realized on 2 ways;

*An saving account setting / introducing saving accounts that deactivates ideal transfers, that makes it impossible to connect a card and to do direct debits.

*extra setting per account to block or ideal/sofort, pin transactions and direct debits. In this case it means it still an official payment account but with the functions if a saving.

I’m a really happy bunq user and because of you guys i have finally the feeling that i control my money. And we are really lucky with all this amazing futures that you guys gave us🙏

Autosum Search. If I want to calculate my monthly grocery expenses it would be very handy when (via pull down?) the total amount is being displayed. Also the search filter date function could use some shortcuts for showing the last x month(s) etc.

In the [accounts] section, I can see the name(s) of my card(s) under the primary connected IBAN.

If you connect a secondary IBAN to a card, you'll have to go into the cards section to check which one is the connected secondary account.

Why not immediately show it in the [accounts] section? That would be more convenient. (this might just be a bug, but I thought I'd mention it here anyway)

photo
1

Wish: Assign card to different IBAN once-only. It will automatically be assigned to the previous IBAN after one payment.

photo
1

Wish: Make (temporary) assigning your pin card to a different IBAN easier.

Right now, it requires 5 touch events (excluding opening the app). This can be awkward when you forgot to do this until the last minute at a cash register.

One easier place would be to have the option to assign your card when you long-press an account. Then you need 3 touch events, and this has no impact on the design of the app.

Faster option would be to have a card assignment shortcut to the 3 (?) most used accounts on the main page. Then you need 1 touch event.
