Hi, I'd like to change the language of my bunq app independently of my device's language. Is there a way to do this? If not, I wish this will be implemented, because my device's language is English but I'd like to have my bunqing in my native language

@-13#76918 Hey Felix! Currently this isn't possible, the app is using your phone's language.

Neither the less, thanks for your fast reply

@johannes#76920 Ik snap nooit hoe developers nooit voordehands bedenken dat men de taal zou moeten kunnen wijzigen in de instellingen. Is dat dan zo moeilijk te implementeren?

@Dani-Violet-Panda#76996 it is not like it hasn't been thought of. bunq tries to keep the app as simple as possible, while fitting the majority of the clients. The majority of the clients apparently have their phone configured to the language that they want to use the app in. 🙂

@Sander#77074 Het toevoegen van een optie waarin men de taal kan muteren zou volgens mijzelf in geen enkel opzicht iets kunnen compliceren.

@Dani-Violet-Panda#77150 This is actually not really supported by iOS, so that would require implementing a hack

@Andreas#77152 Not true, in basically every app ever you have the option to change the language. Take Instagram for example.

@Dani-Violet-Panda#77154 They implemented that hack probably. On iOS, user languages for system frameworks are stored in an Apple-only "UserDefaults" setting, which can be overriden, but has complications such as the app needing a hard reboot, not working with all network errors, etc.

@Andreas#77157 Welp, I don’t think I multi billion company owned by Facebook is really using a “hack” to do that. Thanks for your input though.

@Dani-Violet-Panda#77158 You would be surprised how much that happens at big companies :) I checked, and instagram is definitely using that hack: they even crash the app on purpose when changing the language, to work around some of the issues with the hack. (Apple doesn't really allow this, but big companies usually get a pass from Apple on this kind of stuff)

@Andreas#77160 Maar een ieder kan toch ook simpelweg switchen van store zonder de taal te veranderen? Zo kun je ook apps downloaden in een andere taal. Zou dan toch ook geblokkeerd moeten zijn?

@Dani-Violet-Panda#77162 The App Store is an Apple app. Apple's own app can do things that aren't allowed/possible for 3rd party apps.

@Dani-Violet-Panda#77158 "Hack" as in: using Apple Enterprise Certificates to be able to make people install tracking software and track all the data they enter and every single move they make on the device? No I'm also sure, Facebook would never do that.

                              @Roeshimi#77164 HAHAHAHAHHH

                                2 months later

Good news, as of iOS 13 you can pick the default language per app! iOS user just have to be patient. 😄

This will be possible from the system settings app. 👍

@WJanson#96155 Sounds great, now it would be cool if bunq could implement it for Android, as we don't have the option there (yet) :/

@WJanson#96155 patient? Not one of my strong points ;)

But this feature definitely comes in handy! For example, my phone is set to English but sometimes want to switch quickly to Dutch to make a screenshot with Duch text (of a bunq 🌈 screen for example) 👍

So, let's bring it on ;)

                                      a month later

my phone in russian language, i want to bunq in English, because I do not speak in germanish. so, da hell. i choose this bank just because you have sign up and app in English, but...nu da hell. why i can not choose language
