  • Remove card number on bunq Mastercard

As Jobs once quoted Picasso: "Good artist copy, great artist steal". Maybe it's time to steal one of Apple's newest ideas: No card number on the Apple Card they introduced yesterday. Why would you still have the card number on the bunq Mastercard when it is available in the app? The only place users would still need the card number is when paying online and since the CVC is needed for this anyway, the bunq app would have to be opened. Having the number on the card therefore does not have any added value. Adding safety by not having the number on the card would therefore make perfect sense!

    @johannes#76944 Terminals where the physical card number is needed on the card? How would this work? I always thought that either the NFC, Chip or magstripe was used. Since the numbers are printed on the card, they can no longer be used to imprint them on a piece of paper like they would in the past.

      @johannes#76954 Problem solved in that case, you can just as easily read it from your bunq app :).

        That Apple card is one sexy card! I would like to have one, but I assume they will not be available in The Netherlands...

          @Jos-Golden-Unicorn#76976 One step after the other. First regular Apple Pay in the Netherlands, and if you prove to be worthy, you get Apple card ;)

            @Roeshimi#77030 Well.... as some folks have managed to get Apple Pay up and running in The Netherlands, we have the opportunity to proof ourselves worthy of Apple Pay....

            As credit cards are not that common in The Netherlands, we'll be last to get Apple Card...

              @Samzoiets#77049 "managed", so not legally. Wait until it's your turn ;)

                @Roeshimi#77065 Patience is not one of my built-in features...

                Having said that, to return to the topic at hand; is there any legal obligation to print the number on the card?

                  @Samzoiets#77068 I think I have read somewhere that there needs to be a number on the card, but the Apple announcement has proven me wrong.

                    @Samzoiets#77075 Yes I was talking about the physical Apple Card, which is a MasterCard as well

                      @Hemmik#76941 Also titanium MasterCard would be welkome

                        @Samzoiets#77088 Now you know ;)

                          Raul added the tags.

                            That card looks absolutely stunning!! Please make a card like that bunq🤩

                              @Bram#77360 this looks stunning out of the box; I'd be very interested if it looks good after a few days of actually using it... not sure that white will stay white for very long :)

                                @Gerhard-Yellow-Frog#77368 I have no idea, maybe the fact that the card is titanium makes it more durable? Let’s just hope that bunq creates a metal card instead of plastic ones, no matter the color😌
