• Automate Bunq payments with Flow

A request I see a lot here is to automate transfers/top-ups based on triggers (like incoming transactions).


A lot is possible with the Bunq API, so we decided to make an app that automates your financial life, like IFTTT for money.


Introducing Flow. A dedicated iOS app that uses Bunq Connect and features interesting presets that help you automate your money life.


Some examples:

• When your salary comes in, transfer €200 to groceries (built)

• When your salary comes in, transfer what is left on your main account to savings (coming soon)

• When you make a payment at a supermarket from your “outbox” account, transfer the same amount from your groceries account to the outbox.


We are currently testing the app internally and are ramping up for a closed beta.

      One thing is missing and that is api support for the shared accounts, hope bunq will add that soon.

      Hope bunq can help the flow and other teems by adding that to the api.

        Hi Guys, sounds pretty awesome and sure would love to give it a try. But still a bit concerned about the privacy and security aspect. Could you guys elaborate on this? If I'm not mistaken I have to share my API key?

              Hi Wil, my bet. You are right. But my misspelling got magical corrected :)

                Thats what I am too, as far as I know they will use the connect feature. But we will see how it turns out. Lets test it with some test accounts I would say ;). But I think they will publish their privacy policy once the beta starts.

                  Are you planning to make the project Open Source? It would lower the security concerns a lot for me when I can review the service I’m giving full access to 😳.

                    We are currently testing internally with an API key, but for the beta (and public) release, we are planning on only using the connect feature.


                    There is no granular way to ask for permissions, or to set a scope as a user. So we are using the method Bunq provides right now. With this method you are in control of the connect via the Bunq app.


                    We are in a very early stage at the moment, so stay tuned for more information on how everything works, or sign up for the beta and see for yourself :)

                      Het idee erachter is uitstekend maar persoonlijk wacht ik liever tot Bunq zélf dit soort ideeën in de app actief maakt.

                      Ik ben er géén voorstander van om allerlei externe partijen te connecten aan m'n rekeningen......


                      Dus voorlopig voer ik soortgelijke opdrachten, zoals sparen etc etc, wel handmatig uit. Stukje privacy én overzicht in eigen beheer.....

                        Ik ben wel benieuwd naar het verdienmodel van dit soort apps.

                        En wat gebeurt er precies met alle transactiegegevens, wordt dat bewaard bijvoorbeeld en voor hoe lang?

                          Ben benieuwd wanneer we toegang krijgen.

                              Thank you for your interest in Flow. We find privacy and security very important, just like most of the people on together. It’s a very important subject so we are glad bunq users are asking those questions.


                              bunq allows us to either use the API Key with all access or use the Connect feature. There is no granular level of connecting in between. For us the Connect feature is the best option to use right now.


                              About us: we are 6 passionate Dutch designers and developers (and –of course– bunq users). Just like many people on together we really want to automate our banking life, no more manual hassle, using calculators etc. We are currently in an early stage of developing Flow, that means that security and privacy are also things we are working on.


                              We want to give everybody the power to automate their money with Flow, but we will only go live once we have a secure solution which is compliant with the law.


                              We are currently in contact with bunq on how we can achieve that in the best way.

                                Hi Daan, thnx for the additional info. I always have the upmost respect for curious and creative bunq users :)

                                I have two additional questions, are you guys a company or just a group of friends? And secondly, is there a revenue model behind this app?

                                It is very cool that bunq has such features where you can easily manage access to a bank account. But I'm somewhat reluctant to give access if I don't know everything there is to know about the person or company whom I grant access.

                                  Hi Daan, als je wilt wil ik wel e.e.a. reviewen? Heb een lange historie als ICT geek inclusief 25 jaar software cracking en reverse engineering. Ik kan je helpen met een aantal onderwerpen:

                                  - automation flow integrity (geen triggers die triggers afvuren en zo cascaden)

                                  - information policy (wat gebruik je en wat sla je op)

                                  - engine design (hoe zorg ik voor een basis die stapsgewijs op- en uitbouwt)

                                  Voor mij is het gewoon hobby net als voor jullie. Ik heb me aangemeld voor de beta onder (b***.j**p@gm**)

                                    Heb trouwens ook ooit nog eens geleerd om iOS apps te bouwen dus kan code goed lezen. Ik programmeer niet.
