  • Card working only contactless sometimes

Hi bunqers,

Sometimes is my card/chip not recognized from the terminal when I plug the card. The message is that I should swipe the card. But bunq cards do not have magnetic stripe, or?!
If I pay contactless then it is working.
Is the chip on card dejective or has the terminal a wrong configuration?
It is with both, Mastercard and Maestro.
Any experience? 🙃

    In which country are you trying to pay?

      Was at home in Germany and this weekeng in Czech Republic.

        Bunq cards do have a magnetic stripe. The terminal itself may be the problem.

        Did you try swiping the card?

          @GV#78752 Yes. But it was also declined. Contactless did work fine. 🤷🏼‍♂️

            Have had this problem with my Mastercard a few times. Luckily like you said contactless should work fine. Even when you have to enter your PIN. :) Still curious why this message sometimes pops up tho.

              Some older machines the contacts give a bit more space and or are spaced a bit less precise that the standard. I’ve had this also whiff ING cards in the past. It helped to give the card a bit of a push down. What also helps is to precent the card as strait and centred as possible.
