  • Send a request without a set amount or with a flexible amount

In the past, you were able to split a payment with the option to have receivers choose the amount to pay. A while back bunq removed this option. I find myself using this feature less and less.

I often run into this situation: I have a meeting where some have lunch and some don't. These meetings can take a couple of hours. It's not uncommon for people to sit in for a coffee or two. I pick up the check. I want to split the payment but because the amount each person owes varies too much to just split it evenly, I have to figure out who owes what.

In the past, I would attach a picture of the receipt and everyone figures it out for themselves. I would love for this to be a feature again. Right now I usually end up with sending a picture of the receipt in a chat and adding my IBAN.

Am I missing something or are there a lot more people running into this issue?

I do miss the option to have people pay more (or less), even though I didn't use it often.

There are really certain situations where it is very convenient to have this option.

Too bad it was taken away.

I second this. I really don't use it often, but when I do it would be soooo nice to have it available!

I would also really appreciate this option.

Yes, this feature would be nice. A fully open (no amount defined) payment request

Yes please :) Would love to see this brought back!

If you can ask a coder friend to build a simple tool through API i can make the apps support it. Adding direct support means adding clutter to the UI. We're trying to keep the UI as simple as possible :)...

Why not make the "share link" button on the "Request" tab always unprotected, so you can always click on it (even when a amount is not set)?

So: Request -> "Share link" -> question ("Do you want to make a request without a set amount?") -> Yes -> make link (request page with input field for amount)

That's actually a pretty genius idea — and the whole reason I love bunq so much. Because this option that you mention, program it yourself with the API, it didn't even cross my mind yet. Guess I still have to get used to this new way of banking/bunqing :)

A personal payment page on the bunq.me domain would also be nice, like the PayPal.me service.

                    For example: bunq.me/account_email or bunq.me/guid_code

I understand that clutter is something to be extremely mindful of when adding functionality. I don't see how this feature would add clutter though.

As Bastiaan writes; when leaving the amount field(s) empty, a requestee would see an amount input field where the amount usually is. The webform for non-bunqers would also need to be altered, but - no disrespect - I think it needs a makeover anyway. That layout probably is the first encounter with bunq for non-bunqers.

I don’t want to step into someone’s Italian designer shoes (you see what I did there?), but maybe something along the lines of this...

                      Instead of

Well Casper you do have some Italian ancestor somewhere down the family tree by the looks of that design ;)

That design is very nice Casper!

It's very important to improve the design of the request screen for non-bunq'ers.

If we want more people to join bunq, we better make that screen look and behave as awesome as the rest of bunq is.

It's been a while. Just wanted to bump this topic to see if there are more bunqers feeling the same about this functionality

You can now just send people your bunq.me link though, so is there any advantage to implementing this?

With requests bunq keeps track who payed. It also keeps the event feed tidy

The only difference is that you can make multiple requests and add other descriptions..

Exactly! Also a request leads the payment to the relevant account instead of bunq.me which sends every transaction to the same account. It is switchable, but clearly not made for payment splitting

But if you're splitting a payment why would you want to alter it? Surely you already know what everyone has to pay you back. Maybe I'm alone in this but I think multiple bunq.me pages would be better.
