Hello, I'm using an Android phone that doesn't have Google services installed, and every time I start the app or do anything that brings me back on the homepage, I get an annoying "This app needs Google services to work properly, that aren't supported by your device". The app, beside some quirks (like the qr code and map) works amazingly well.

Would it be possible to remove it?

@foxone#81989 Push notifications and Tap&Pay are also working without Google Play Services?

Push notifications are working since I still have the Push Service, and Tap&Pay I cannot really say since my phone had no NFC.

      QR reading is broken, though.

Same situation here, I too am running an Android phone without Google Play Services installed, mainly due to privacy concerns.

Aside from the app crashing when opening the QR code scanner, all functionality seems to work fine.
This QR code issue I can mostly mitigate by sharing payment links to the browser on my phone, after which the Bunq app picks up on it.

However, it would certainly be nice if there were some option to suppress the warnings that pop up continuously.

@bunq. Dit request staat inmiddels al 4 maanden open. Zijn jullie van plan dit te fixen?

@Tycho-Green-Puma#114592 that's not how bunq works. bunq never discloses what is being worked on. There is a bigger release coming up (Update 12) so it might be included.. But it also might not be. You won't get any confirmation of bunq working on a feature or an ETA. ๐Ÿ™‚ we'll see it when it's there. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

An ACK would be enough. But thanks for the explanation.

Tim changed the title to "This apps needs Google Services" but works fine..

It would be very nice to have an alternate bunq app (sorta like how Telegram does with Telegram FOSS [https://github.com/Telegram-FOSS-Team/Telegram-FOSS]) with no binary blobs, and no third party libraries (like the Google ones), to let us people who like privacy enjoy bunq without having to worry about Google complaining all the time that it cannot call back home.
I don't care about Google Pay, or the scanning feature, or other stuff.
Upon opening the bunq app, i see requests to "segment.io", "mixpanel.com", "adjust.com". I would like to see only requests to x.bunq.com. This is a full report of the privacy of the "bunq" app: https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/com.bunq.android/latest/

@foxone#130276 You could be the one to develop it ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Jakob#130306 I believe decompiling the bunq app would be against their terms of use. Or even reverse engineering the internal API they use for the official app. Also, we're talking about creating a custom build of a banking app, not of a game. I don't think it'd be a good idea having an unsigned app handle this stuff. This is why I think bunq should do it

@foxone#130350 For everyone that already has an account and a secured device with Google Play services to use for login, an app that only uses the official API could suffice. And thatโ€˜s imho the most likely thing to happen, if anything at all. Thatโ€˜s why I said that.

@foxone#130276 I think this idea fits perfectly with what bunq wants to be: a modern bank for this generation. Using firebase or mixpanel is soo 2015 ;)
Could someone pitch this idea within bunq?
