• Description of payment request

Wanneer ik bij een betaalverzoek een beschrijving toevoegen, dan ziet de betalende partij niet die beschrijving. In plaats daarvan ziet hij een soort code wat voor hen natuurlijk niets zeggende is. Is hier wel eens naar gekeken? Het zou fijn als de betalende partij dezelfde beschrijving ziet.

    When you send a bunq.me request (via email or SMS), the paying part should be able to see the description you added when they tap on the link!

    Using a Shared Request will make them see the description along with the link you sent them: https://together.bunq.com/topic/shared-requests

    If this is not the case, could you please send us a screenshot? 👍

        I think I understand now! You meant they can't see the description you used for the payment on their bank's overview, right?

          Nik, I think you mean on the bank statement of the person who accepted your request. Now they indeed see some code instead of the description you wrote down.

          I have also mentioned it earlier this year, they said it was on the wish list. Not sure if it still is though.

In this case, and since iDEAL is the intermediary payment method, I'm not sure there's much we can do about it, but we'll keep you guys posted on this regard!

              Marc, that's right. It should be possible to specify the transaction description, it's indeed common to show the "order reference" for example. But in this case, there is no "reference".

              In the underlying middleware of iDEAL you already have the transaction id (the ID from the iDEAL acquirer) which you get back initiating an iDEAL request. Hence having a separate ID is not neccesary. Unless bunq uses this ID as an internal number for the Deutche Bank account to keep track of iDEAL payments of bunqers :) In that case it's going to be difficult to change it I guess.

                I checked at Rabobank. They also have a different tegen rekening and a different Description than the Description I sibmitted. However, I did recognize my payment as my Description was part of their Description.

                  Could you please look at my last remark? I think it is possible to adjust the ideal description, as Rabobank is also able to do this.

                    If it is possible I would also like the description to be visible for the paying party. I send out a payment request a week ago but the paying party ended up transferring the money by bank transfer because she did not see a description in the description field visible in her Rabobank app.

                      I would like to see the description on the bank statement as well. It's true you can see the description when paying, but if you look back after a few months there is no description on the statement. I can't expect everybody to remember all the payments they made (or more importantly the one they forgot). It seems a bit odd that a bank doesn't think a description is useful on a transaction. If you use other apps like Tikkie the description is shown on the statement.
