seems bunq has gone one step further, it seems it's no longer possible for non-bunq costumers to claim bunq.me links

        is this true? @ali @Raul-Together ?

And... on bunq.me links connected to other ibans than bunq it now says ‘unverified’ as a warning. Whereas on links to bunq ibans (even when you do not want to show your legal name) it is verified, cause you are a bunqer anyway.

As a relatively new client I would say, keep that quiet, let him continue, you need to analyse what he's doing and how....

How do you expect to catch him now? He will just move onto another bank..the issues just doubled...but this post is old.

Yup, unfortunately it seems that we're facing organized fraud attempts. To protect our users, and the community at large, we have been doing whatever we can by:
                - closing all reported links ASAP
                - blacklisting all kinds of things (for obvious reasons i won't disclose what the triggers are)
                - added 'unverified' for bunq.me links where we have not yet the identity of the requestor

All of this was executed/coded and put on production within 24-36 hours of first notification. Then when we saw that despite 'UNVERIFIED' people still mistakenly made transfers, we decided to kill bunq.me signup for non-bunq users as a temporary measure.

Keeping everyone safe is always our highest priority, I hope you can see how serious we take these unfortunate attempts to abuse our system, and how quickly and effectively we act.

                Cheers,

                Ali

@Haldun#85965 They wont be able to do anything with posts like this, drop them a PM, they will resolve it, I mean you trust them don't you, otherwise you wouldn't be here. Let's help them to be 2 steps ahead of these people.

@Ali#86620 Thanks Ali for the heads up but adding unverified in text might not be a good idea, better to use a separate check mark like twitter which appears next to the name instead of a text/word

@DaveFlash#86624 But because a lot of people don't know bunq yet, the verified symbol doesn't have enough impact.

The problem with the current fraud is that people believe that they are paying CJIB. A big "UNVERIFIED" behind the name will have more impact than the absence of a verification symbol.

@Petervdv#86628 Yes, that indeeed is the quickest fix for now. The bunq design team will have to come up with a more permanent solution.

Bunqers are automatically verified as they have been checked somewhere during the signup process. And when miss using you risk the option of your account getting blocked.

@MarJamJars#86639 That and law enforcement can get the details from bunq easily, no matter what name it states on the bunq page.

@Petervdv#86628 Would be nice if they take Chrome as an example. Make the background of the payment box semi red with an exclamaition mark like this or just the red exlamaition mark with bold text unverified like this.

Aside this, good job taking quick measures agains these scams @Ali#86620 !

I‘m just wondering: how was it possible to sign up for bunq.me as non-customer?
