In the American Express website it states we can link a credit card with our bank. How is that possible with bunq?

To pay your credit card invoices or balances? If you have a card from a countries in which they provide payment by SEPA direct debit, you should just need to provide your bank account details to them as direct debit mandate.
AMEX has been known to discriminate against foreign IBANs in the past, though. I'm not sure how the current situation is.
@Dominik#87992 Are you talking about AMEX Germany? That would be great.
I managed to setup AMEX with a direct debit on my bunq account last October. It took them forever to process the verification transaction, but it should work better nowadays.
@Menbren#88059 Seriously? I just called them (two months ago) and they just changed my bank account for direct Debits... Took less than a minute
Yes, between June-October 2018. As mentioned above, they discriminated bunq IBANs. Apparently it took so long because of some internal system change they were waiting on. All good now.
Amex France is still discriminating by only accepting FR IBANs. Clearly stated on their website and I just called them as well to be sure.
Still refusing for AMEX France... They said "we've a list of banks we're working with and your bank isn't in it". I'll call them back to say that they're in fact accepting it, as you said @Menbren. If it doesn't work, it'll be a reminder about IBAN laws...

Hi 🙌,
AMEX has very much separate processes depending in which country you open the account with them and there are quite a lot of differences... you can see it also from the App that they provide... every country has its own 👎
In NL I had already an AMEX with Direct debit end of the month to my former ING account and when I switch fully to bunq 🌈 they just did it by filling a form on line and sending in the post (yes... the post, it was something like 3 years ago) but they allow also to do it over the phone.. no question asked.. they just update your details.
Probably bunq🌈 in NL is a bit more known as it is Dutch and operates in NL since quite some years while in FR bunq 🌈 is quite new, especially with local IBANs.
I hope by contacting them they can figure it out... it is in AMEX interests to interact with as many banks as possible. I understand why they need to have a trusted counterpart bank as they need to execute credit checks when releasing a card given they offer quite generous credit limits ... at a price.
Good luck 🍀 and have a great day ☀️
