How do I pay with iDEAL?

iDEAL is a free payment service used by most Dutch web shops. Payments with iDEAL are processed instantly and it allows the store to process your order efficiently. ⚡

You can pay with iDEAL using bunq, both on your phone and on your desktop. 📱🖥

How do I pay on my phone?

The web shop you are paying at will send you to an iDEAL page. After selecting bunq as the bank you want to pay with, you will automatically get redirected to the bunq app.

Important Note: Only continue with your payment if you see https://pay.ideal.nl/ and a lock icon (🔒) at the top of your screen on the iDEAL payment page. This confirms the page is authentic and protected.

Who can use iDEAL?

iDEAL is available as a payment method for all verified bunq users with an NL IBAN / Dutch Bank Account. 🇳🇱

Important Note: In order to create an iDEAL account you should be 16 years old or above.

How to create an iDEAL Profile?

iDEAL recently introduced the iDEAL Profile. An iDEAL profile stores your preferred bank account and delivery details, speeding up future orders and making payments and ordering easier.

Keep in mind that creating an iDEAL Profile is optional. You can still use iDEAL for payments without a profile.

If you want to create an iDEAL Profile follow these easy steps:

Click on Profile
Click on ⚙️ Settings
Select My iDEAL
Go to My iDEAL
You will be redirected to an iDEAL page. Follow the steps there to create an iDEAL Profile.

How does iDEAL Fast Order work?

With iDEAL 2.0 you also have access to iDEAL Fast Order - an easier online shopping experience, without the manual filling of information and hassle.

In order to access this feature you should create an iDEAL Profile as explained above. If you have one, next time when you’re shopping you can follow these simple steps:

Click on iDEAL Fast Order
Your information is filled in automatically
Confirm the payment and you’re done!

Keep in mind that iDEAL Fast Order is supported by some merchants as of now. You can check a complete availability list here ✅

How do I pay on desktop?

Go to the Camera tab in your bunq app
Scan the QR Code that appears on your screen using your phone
Accept the Payment 💸

Good to know

The merchant sees the following info when they receive your iDEAL payment:

BIC
your IBAN
your name
amount

You can make iDEAL payments through your phone and on your browser (fully supported by bunq Web). Whenever you need to pay with iDEAL through your web browser, you'll be automatically redirected to bunq Web to verify the payment.
