Maxime You are incorrect here. When you use your MasterCard debit card it is recognised as a MasterCard debit card by the terminal NOT as a MasterCard Credit Card. This is the reason Mastercard debit cards are often rejected by petrol pumps, rental car companies and hotels. The new card eliminates this as it will be recognised as a MasterCard Credit Card. Hope this helps!

The visual is shown above with “credit” printed on the card.
And I live in NL so I know firsthand what I said.
If the travel card is a credit card, let’s just rewrite the FAQ and say “travel card=Mastercard credit card” without a credit line. Why make this more confusing than it is?

This is the answer from support; The only difference is that it works as a credit card but is still a debit card, this makes the card more acceptable by merchants 👍🏻

It seems like this is just like a MasterCard, but then simply better? Could I just deactivate my MasterCard and then order this travel card, with all the same features? + all the new features of the travel card?

Or is there’s something the MasterCard has that the travel card doesn’t?

Salomon Well there are also some merchants that prefer debit cards to credit cards (Eg Post Office in Ireland) so I will keep both for maximum flexibility.

Hi. I set up my 3 cards before this Travel MasterCard was an option. I want this card and I'm happy to drop one of the extra cards so I remain with just 3 active cards.

Do I still get rinsed for 9 euros as punishment for having ordered 3 cards when I started Bunq because the Travel MasterCard hadn't existed then, or does removing 1 of my current 3 cards allow me to add the Travel MasterCard as third card for free?

Mark Ah alright. So the MasterCard is a debit card that you can use for some credit card things like online purchases, but the travel card is actually considered a real credit card?

Do you know if it has embossed numbers? I’ve come across situations in south east Asia where hotels won’t accept credit cards if they don’t have embossed characters (they will say it’s not real)

What I love about Bunq is that they have you fully ‘covered’ now with debit, credit and Maestro. Few banks offer this.

Ik begrijp nog steeds het veschil niet met mijn debit mastercard. Die wordt toch ook overal geaccepteerd als creditcard?

Het verschil is me wel duidelijk, of heb ik het mis als ik zeg dat je in je portemonnaie dus net zo goed de normale bunq Master Card debit card kunt vervangen door deze nieuwe Travel Card?
En is deze Travel Card op de dezelfde manier te gebruiken met Apple Pay?

Kevin Bij een reservering op een normale creditcard gaat de reservering ook uit je bestedingsruimte. Dus als je bestedingsruimte ziet als beschikbaar saldo, dan is het verschil feitelijk niet zo groot.

Het wordt pas merkbaar bij fraudegevallen. Creditcard organisaties hollen iets harder dan.
Hoewel ik geen ervaring heb met de prestaties van Bunq.
(Ik maak die vergelijking met N26 en normale Visa kaart.)
