Elise Hey Elise, I have used a UK online Bank's card which provides this feature on their Debit cards, sometimes successful, but never could rent a car. Also, without a number embossed on the card, most merchants refuse the card at sight(from UK and US travel experience). Secondly, if we use the card number for online purpose, would it register as BUNQ Credit card? I have tried the other cards online and Merchants such as 'Hertz' and 'Sixt', have a check on their website which automatically rejects any Debit card masquerading as Credit card.

Elise Update from our side to clear up the differences between our new Travel Card and the debit Mastercard:

The main difference is that it will be accepted by merchants who only accept credit cards. Our debit Mastercard, for example, often had acceptance issues with hotels and car rentals because they require a deposit and will only accept a credit card. This was then resolved with the Travel Card.

The Travel Card is a credit card that only allows you to spend the money you have. It can be connected to all your monetary accounts so all funds will be deducted from the connected account at the time of the payment. Similarly to the debit Mastercard, the credit line is supplied from the funds available on your account.

You can use the Travel Card for contactless payments and offline payments (such as payments in airplanes).

Elise Why only go halfway and not actually offer a real credit card? I never had any issues using debit so far, for me there is no value in getting this card at this point.

I tried to use it at another airline but the staff declined the card because of the "Debit" clearly stated on the card.

So the travel card is just a better debit card. It's not even a full credit card. I feel we should get a free upgrade from debit to travel card since it's just a waste.

So on the one hand you think the travel card is not really better and not comparable to a full credit card, on the other hand you want an upgrade because you can't stand your debit card anymore? I don't really get this. Maybe I use credit cards differently than other people but I never buy anything with a credit card when I don't have the money sitting in my account.

This travel card is basically just a credit card where every payment is paid off immediately. Best of both worlds. At least for me. If you want to have a credit line, that's completely fine, but bunq never offered this and probably never will. I don't think it's reasonable to expect that they'll come out with such a product.

Elise Dus als ik het goed begrijp, moet er genoeg saldo op het gekoppelde rekeningnummer staan, of er wordt als ‘bestedingsruimte’ het totale saldo van alle rekeningen samen gezien?
