Hi, I saw you added the option to top up the account with a credit card, but only for Visa and Mastercard. Any plans to add Amex as well?

I was wondering the same. However, I can’t help but wonder if this will cause a cash advance on a card? If it does then no use in it.
Would absolutely be interested in being able to top up with Amex as well!

Hi everyone! 👋
I'm interested in finding out what the use case for topping up with Amex is, compared to topping up with other credit card types.
Would you mind explaining why you'd like to see this feature, and how you would mainly use it? 😊
@Tom#100915 Pretty much for the reason you have the other 2, with the difference that I only have an Amex card 😄
For instance, I don’t have any Visa/Mastercard in the EU. My primary card here is Amex simply because it has amazing rates and benefits.

Cool, thanks for the insight!
One of the reasons that AMEX is less accepted is the extra cost of processing it. How do you see that, and would you still be interested in topping up with AMEX if there was an extra fee?
I wouldn’t mind an extra fee of up to 2% for example. Totally worth it considering all the benefits of using my Amex card!
@Tom#100929 Up to 1% is reasonable

Thanks again 🙏
I can't promise we will add AMEX, but we'll definitely put it on the wishlist to consider.
Happy bunqing! 🌈
@Tom#100929 I don’t think AmEx is that much more expensive than Mastercard or VISA.
In the old days it was, but nowadays not anymore!
I was also curious to see whether AmEx would work, since that offers benefits over many other cards. I was somewhat hopeful when the email announcing the feature specifically mentioned that it'd work for all credit cards.
However, it seems my remaining bit of scepticism was justified. If AmEx support would be added, that'd be great. It's not a massive need for me, but it could be quite handy while abroad, especially since I could then use the AmEx to load money onto my Bunq card while abroad, especially in order to get around the sometimes rather high fees of conversion or the lack of AmEx support.
It would be like having the best of both worlds: the fee advantages of Bunq with the benefits of AmEx.
@Tuur#100943 In Europe, the interchange fee regulation does not apply for Amex yet. So they are considerably more expensive for merchants in most cases, unless you are a really big grocery chain for example.
I always use Amex so I wouldn’t mind to pay a fee to top up with my card. Then the customer have the choice if they want to use it or not.
Why do you all like to top-up with a credit card? Just do a SEPA transfer. There is no limit at all and will just take some hours.
@Heiko-Hartwig#101067 It’s your last sentence there. I top up by SEPA by a certain amount each month. But sometimes I need to quickly add money from another account. A specific example in my case is getting money from friends - they send it immediately to my Revolut account and then I top up my Bunq account with that amount. It’s a little convoluted but works until bunq.me adds credit/debit card payments.
@Tom#100933 That’d be great, thank you!
